Liverpool are running out of road as they aim to make a signing before the transfer deadline passes.
With less than a week before the window slams shut, the Reds are still yet to do any incoming business.
On the pitch, things have been going well so far. Arne Slot has settled in nicely and led Liverpool to a comfortable opening day win in the Premier League.
However, onto match week two, and Liverpool already have an injury problem to worry about. Having the full first-team squad available did not last long at all.
As a result, it seems clear that the Reds need to do something before next Friday. With plenty of money in the coffers from sales, there has been a feeling that Liverpool could be about to do something big.

Fabrizio Romano addresses Khvicha Kvaratskehlia links
It is not often that Liverpool are left scrambling around towards the end of transfer windows. FSG usually like to get their business done nice and early.
However, the Reds have put themselves in a position where they have no choice but to get involved in the final days of the market this year.
With that in mind, there have been some whispers that Liverpool could move to sign Napoli winger Khvicha Kvaratskhelia.
Kvaratskhelia has been linked with Liverpool for much of the past two years, but with the Georgian one of Napoli’s absolute key men, it has always felt unlikely to happen.

And according to journalist Fabrizio Romano, that still remains the case. Speaking on his YouTube channel on Saturday morning, Romano reported that Liverpool are not working on and will not sign Kvaratskhelia.
“Some reports in England say that Liverpool are preparing an incredible bid for Khvicha Kvaratskhelia,” he says. “No, guys, Liverpool are not working on a deal for Kvaratskhelia.
“This is the clear message coming from the club and the clear message coming from Napoli is that they are absolutely not entertaining business around Kvaratskheila. This remains Napoli’s position.
“Liverpool are focused on completely different things,” Romano adds. “I still think that Liverpool are going to try something in the final days of the summer transfer window but for sure for Kvaratskhelia in this moment there is nothing active or nothing concrete to say.”
Could Liverpool look at Kvaratskhelia in 2025?
If Liverpool are to make a late swoop – as it really feels they need to – it’s unlikely that this will be in the forward areas.
There had been rumours that Luis Diaz could leave Anfield and if the Colombian had departed then a new attacker might have been necessary.
But Slot has confirmed that Diaz will not be sold and, as a result, there is no real need for Liverpool to go big on someone like Kvaratskhelia.
Next summer, that might be different. While we expect that Liverpool will come back in for Anthony Gordon in 2025, Kvaratskhelia could be one to watch next year, too.
The 23-year-old certainly ticks a lot of boxes for the Reds, so perhaps these rumours will become more concrete in the future. For now, though, it’s one to cross off.
