Liverpool look all geared up for a very busy end to the summer transfer window.
The Reds have so far been completely silent in terms of incoming business, but there remains a need to make a couple of additions.
On the flip-side, the Anfield exit door has been getting some use. Liverpool confirmed the sale of Bobby Clark earlier on Thursday, with Clark following Fabio Carvalho in leaving the Reds permanently.
It had always looked unlikely that the Liverpool fire sale would end there, though. It has been claimed that the likes of Ben Doak could leave Liverpool for good.
Tyler Morton is another expected to go, while another of Morton’s former academy teammates now looks set to make Liverpool a good chunk of money.
Sepp van den Berg ready for Brentford transfer
Liverpool need to be careful that they don’t leave themselves short this season.
They do have a relatively big first-team squad, but take a couple of young players out of that and it suddenly looks a whole lot less deep.
One area where there looks some slight cause for concern is in central defence. With Joe Gomez considering his future at Liverpool, there had been some suggestion that Sepp van den Berg may step up to the senior team.
But despite the Dutchman having done well in pre-season, Liverpool have accepted bids for Van den Berg this week.

With the 22-year-old having to choose between Bundesliga champions Bayer Leverkusen and Premier League rivals Brentford, journalist Fabrizio Romano says Van den Berg has now made his choice.
“Sepp van den Berg has decided to go to Brentford as he accepted their proposal, here we go!” says Romano.
“Liverpool and Brentford finalising deal for £25m package while player set for medical tests later today.
“Deal to be sealed in the next 24h.”
Liverpool must make centre-back signing
This really does look like an excellent piece of business from Liverpool. Van den Berg is a good player and could have supplemented the squad, but £25m is £25m.
Having signed the defender for just £1.3m in 2019, it represents a massive profit for the Reds on a player who featured just four times for them.
For Sepp, it gives him the chance to go out and prove himself in the Premier League with a good side under an excellent manager.
In terms of Liverpool, though, they simply have to bring in a new defender now. Even if Gomez stays, it seems that either Arne Slot doesn’t fancy him or his head is elsewhere.
Time is ticking down for the Reds to do that, but with plenty of money now lining the coffers, they have no excuse not to go out and get something done.
