Liverpool have lots of interest in ‘outstanding’ midfielder and are expected to sell him before deadline day

Liverpool look set for a busy end to the transfer window with a number of loose ends yet to be tied up.

The Reds still haven’t done any incoming business this year, although it looks possible that a couple of things are in the pipeline.

Liverpool are closing in on signing Giorgi Mamardashvili and there will be hope that the Georgian goalkeeper is not the final addition at Anfield.

Meanwhile, the exit door should get a little more action. Bids have been accepted for Sepp van den Berg, who now looks certain to leave.

As well as the Dutch defender, Liverpool are reportedly preparing to move on another player who had a successful loan spell last season.

Liverpool expecting Tyler Morton exit

Liverpool have raised a fair amount from sales so far this summer. Fabio Carvalho made them a big profit, while Bobby Clark has now completed a £10m move to RB Salzburg.

While we wait to see what the longer-term plan is, it’s obvious that Liverpool have the funds to go big on a late incoming. There’s not really any excuse for not doing so.

Carvalho and Clark have made the Reds almost £40m between them, with Van den Berg potentially adding £30m to that.

And now, along with that trio, it also looks likely that Liverpool are about to sell midfielder Tyler Morton.

There were claims earlier in the summer that Morton was speaking to RB Leipzig about a move. £20m was the figure mentioned at that time.

And although the Liverpool ECHO do not speculate on the amount Liverpool could make from selling the academy graduate, they do report that Morton is ‘expected’ to leave.

It isn’t said outright, but after noting his successful loan spells at both Blackburn and Hull, the inference is that Morton is set for a permanent move.

Europa League winners Atalanta are said to be one of ‘a number’ of teams ‘looking closely’ at the 21-year-old.

Time for Tyler Morton to move on

Given that Liverpool could do with a deeper lying midfielder who is good on the ball, there is an argument for keeping Morton around this season.

Morton could be Liverpool’s very own Adam Wharton if given the space to grow, in fact. Hull manager Liam Rosenior praised Morton as being ‘outstanding‘ last season and he has clear quality.

But it seems that after a pre-season in which be failed to make a proper impact on Arne Slot, the youngster will not get that opportunity.

After two good spells in the Championship, Morton is now ready to play first-team football. There’s no use him sitting around on the bench or in the U21s at Anfield.

With good money potentially on offer for Morton, too, it feels like the right time for Tyler to spread his wings and leave.
