Liverpool have invested heavily in transfer markets to build a squad capable of lifting trophies, so here is how much the Reds paid to sign every 2024/25 first-team player.
A lot of money has gone into assembling the Liverpool first-team squad over the years. Arne Slot took over an array of lucrative additions when he succeeded Jurgen Klopp as the Reds’ head coach. The Merseyside natives also explored the market for the Dutchman’s first deals.
Klopp regularly explored the market to improve his squad during the German’s nine years at Anfield. By the time he walked away from the helm, Klopp had signed 47 Liverpool transfers after overhauling their ranks. Yet Slot still saw scope to improve the players left at Liverpool.

Liverpool instantly backed Slot with the aid of sporting director Richard Hughes to study the sales for new signings. Fresh faces were sought after on Merseyside to earn further honours for Liverpool’s trophy cabinet, which Klopp added one last title to with the 2023/24 EFL Cup.
So, with that in mind, Rousing The Kop has compiled a complete list of how much Liverpool spent to sign every first-team player in the senior squad at Anfield for the 2024/25 season…
Alisson Becker – £58m

Klopp sought to improve his goalkeeper options at Liverpool in July 2018 with the transfer of Alisson Becker from AS Roma. He made the Brazilian the world’s at-the-time most expensive shot-stopper at an initial €62.5m (£58m), plus €10m (£9m) in performance-related add-ons.

Caoimhin Kelleher – £30,000

Ringmahon Rangers only wanting £30,000 for the transfer of Caoimhin Kelleher in July 2015 tempted Liverpool to take a punt to sign the Republic of Ireland goalkeeper as a youth gem.
Vitezslav Jaros – £300,000

Liverpool invested in their future back in 2017 when the Reds paid Slavia Prague a £300k fee to sign Vitezslav Jaros initially for their Under-18s before earning a first-team squad position.
Harvey Davies – £0

The Reds did not pay a transfer fee to sign Harvey Davies as the goalkeeper is a graduate of Liverpool’s academy and has risen through the age ranks since joining their Under-9s team.
Giorgi Mamardashvili – £25m

Liverpool added to their goalkeeper department in August 2024 with the transfer of Giorgi Mamardashvili from Valencia for an initial fee of £25m. The Georgia international may cost the Reds a further £4m with all add-ons and will arrive at Anfield from Les Che in July 2025.

Joe Gomez – £3.5m

Liverpool paid Charlton Athletic what proved to be a bargain £3.5m fee to clinch the transfer of Joe Gomez in July 2015. The centre-back had played 24 senior fixtures for the Addicks.
Virgil van Dijk – £75m

Southampton held firm until Liverpool agreed to send the Saints a world-record fee to sign a defender in December 2017 before Virgil van Dijk went to Anfield in January 2018 for £75m.

Ibrahima Konate – £36m

Klopp convinced Liverpool to activate the £36m release clause in the contract of Ibrahima Konate at RB Leipzig to sign the France centre-back in May 2021 to bolster their backline.
Kostas Tsimikas – £12m

August 2020 saw the arrival of Kostas Tsimikas at Anfield after Liverpool agreed to sign the left-back from Olympiacos in a £12m transfer to add depth to their defensive senior ranks.
Calvin Ramsay – £4m

Aberdeen sold Calvin Ramsay to Liverpool for an initial £4m, rising to £6.5m after add-ons, in July 2022 after the right-back showed skill with his creativity in the Scottish Premiership.
Andy Robertson – £8m

Hull City enduring relegation from the Premier League in 2016/17 presented Liverpool their chance to sign Andy Roberston for £8m, rising up to £10m after add-ons, as their left-back.

Rhys Williams – £0

Liverpool did not pay a transfer fee to sign Rhys Williams after first welcoming the defender to the club as an academy prospect and investing in his progress with their Under-10 squad.
Nat Phillips – £0

Liverpool did not pay a transfer fee to sign Nat Phillips in August 2016 after taking advantage of the centre-back leaving Bolton Wanderers at the lapse of his contract with their academy.
Trent Alexander-Arnold – £0

Liverpool first welcomed Trent Alexander-Arnold into their academy ranks without a transfer fee after signing their future first-team vice-captain at the age of six and watching him grow.

Klopp paid VfB Stuttgart £16m to sign Wataru Endo in August 2023 as Liverpool reacted to selling Jordan Henderson and Fabinho by adding a new defensive midfielder to their team.
Dominik Szoboszlai – £60m

Liverpool triggered the £60m release clause in the contract of Dominik Szoboszlai with RB Leipzig in July 2023 to bring a new midfield maestro to Merseyside at the start of the sales.

Alexis Mac Allister – £35m

Brighton & Hove Albion agreed to sell Alexis Mac Allister to Liverpool in June 2023 after the Reds triggered his initial £35m release clause, with add-ons taking the total fee up to £55m.
Curtis Jones – £0

Liverpool did not pay a transfer fee to sign Curtis Jones after first adding the Reds’ future first-team player into the academy side at the Under-9 level and investing in his progression.
Harvey Elliott – £1.5m

While Harvey Elliott left Fulham whilst 16 years old at the end of his contract in July 2019 to sign with Liverpool, the Professional Football Compensation Committee made the Reds pay £1.5m, plus £3m in add-ons and a 20% sell-on clause – marking a record compensation fee.

Ryan Gravenberch – £34.5m

Bayern Munich cut their losses on Ryan Gravenberch just one year on from his transfer from AFC Ajax as Liverpool agreed to pay £34.5m to seal a deadline day deal in September 2023.
Stefan Bajcetic – £225,000

Liverpool paid Celta Vigo a £225k transfer fee to sign Stefan Bajcetic as a future first-team player in January 2021. The midfielder moved to Merseyside from his hometown team at 16 years old having never played any games higher than the academy level for the Spanish side.
Luis Diaz – £37.5m

Liverpool reacted to word that Tottenham Hotspur were progressing in talks to sign Luis Diaz from FC Porto and secured his transfer in January 2022. The Reds hi-jacked Spurs’ deal for the Colombian and sealed a deal with the Dragoes for £37.5m, rising to £50m with add-ons.
Darwin Nunez – £64m

SL Benfica cashed in on Darwin Nunez scoring 34 goals in 41 games over the 2021/22 term and sold the Uruguayan to Liverpool for an initial fee of £64m in June 2022. Nunez may even end up costing Liverpool a club transfer record of £85m if he triggers each add-on included.

Mohamed Salah – £34m

The form that Mohamed Salah displayed in Serie A saw Liverpool pay AS Roma a transfer fee of £34m in June 2017. He had struggled in the Premier League during the Egyptian’s first run in the division while with Chelsea, but Salah has gone on to become a true Liverpool legend.

Federico Chiesa – £10m

Liverpool only made one headline signing in the summer 2024 transfer window but secured a bargain with Federico Chiesa joining from Juventus for an initial £10m fee. The Euro 2020 winner’s deal included a further £2.5m in add-ons after the Italian fell out of favour in Turin.

Cody Gakpo – £35m

PSV Eindhoven agreed to ratify the transfer to Anfield of Cody Gakpo in December 2022 as Liverpool put forward a deal for the January 2023 market worth an initial £35m, up to £44m after add-ons. Gakpo convinced the Reds after scoring three goals at the 2022 World Cup.
Diogo Jota – £41m

Liverpool welcomed Diogo Jota to Merseyside in September 2020 after paying Wolves £41m plus a further £4m in add-ons for his transfer. But the Reds offset part of the fee after selling Ki-Jana Hoever to the Old Gold for £9m plus add-ons of up to £4.5m in an adjacent transfer.
Ben Doak – £600,000

Liverpool paid Celtic a training compensation fee of £600k to pip interest from Leeds United for Ben Doak in March 2022. The Reds initially added the Scottish forward to their Under-18 side after his first two senior games in the Bhoys’ 2021/22 Premiership title-winning season.
