Liverpool supporters are starting to get frustrated with a lack of activity in the transfer market.
The Reds have had almost three months since the end of the last Premier League season but have remained motionless during the summer.
It has been a slightly bizarre situation, with the Liverpool hierarchy seemingly asking Arne Slot to go with what he already has in the first-team squad.
While Slot has been talking up his players, there is a clear need for an upgrade in positions such as defensive midfield.
So far, though, the only position that seems like it may be added to is goalkeeper. Liverpool have been in talks over signing Giorgi Mamardashvili from Valencia.

What’s going on with Giorgi Mamardashvili
Liverpool’s interest in Mamardashvili is not something a lot of people saw coming this summer. Especially with Caoimhin Kelleher still around as back-up to Alisson Becker.
The fact that Liverpool could sign the Georgian before placing him on-loan has signalled that there are some doubts over Alisson’s long-term future at Anfield.
It is a slightly odd one all round, really, but Liverpool staff see Mamardashvili as a solution for the next decade, not necessarily for the here and now.
But while a deal had looked relatively close over the earlier part of the week, things have now gone a little quiet.

With Valencia set to begin their La Liga season against Barcelona on Saturday, manager Ruben Baraja has been asked to clear up whether Mamardashvili will be playing.
“It’s very simple. As long as there is nothing, I am not going to value it,” the former Spain international says via Marca. “I’m not talking about hypotheses.
“He has a contract with Valencia and, as long as there is no different situation, he is our player.
“He is ready to participate in tomorrow’s game. He’s ready to compete. When things happen we’ll talk when they happen.”
Will Liverpool sign Mamardashvili?
Although the signing of Mamardashvili before loaning him out would be a slightly strange one, the 23-year-old would still be a good addition for Liverpool.
However, it also sounds like the ‘keeper is ready to play for Valencia on Saturday evening.
This would throw into doubt any notion that Liverpool are close to getting a deal for Mamardashvili done.
It would be yet another blow in a transfer window that is slowly turning into a bit of a disaster for the Reds.
Perhaps there will be a twist between then and now. But as Baraja says, Mamardashvili is currently a Valencia player and that is the latest, up to date information.
