Liverpool have given Real Sociedad midfielder Martin Zubimendi a final deadline to make a decision on his future.
Zubimendi is wanted at Liverpool, with the Reds aiming to sign the Spain international before the deadline.
Four Liverpool players could leave late in the window, with Arne Slot having mostly focused on outgoings so far.
But new faces are needed at Liverpool, and Zubimendi would definitely be warmly welcomed by the Anfield faithful.
It remains to be seen, however, if and when a deal can get over the line, with the midfielder still very much a Real Sociedad player.

The publication added that the Reds have now set a deadline of this weekend for Zubimendi to make his decision about a move to Merseyside.
Will Martin Zubimendi join Liverpool this summer?
Liverpool perhaps could have avoided any stress over Zubimendi by attempting to sign him earlier in the summer window.
That would have allowed the Anfield chiefs to deal with any stalling or mishap in negotiations, with time now running out.

New Anfield boss Slot did, however, want to assess his current group first, which he did during the successful pre-season tour of the USA.
But now the new season is almost here for the Dutchman, with supporters certain to be frustrated about the lack of signings.
Bringing in Zubimendi would, however, appease those fans, particularly given that the number six role has been a problem position in recent times.
