Liverpool are back home on Merseyside and with the full squad available to Arne Slot for the very first time.

The Reds have been preparing for their final fixtures of pre-season on Sunday and one or two things have become clear since their return from the USA.

Liverpool have kept things very quiet after landing back in England last weekend. Finally, some photos from the AXA Training Centre were released on Friday, with some interesting things to note.

Having travelled to the US with so many academy players, it was worth looking at which ones were retained back home. As it turns out, the answer was not many at all.

As Slot gets serious ahead of taking charge at Anfield for the first time, the Dutchman is looking to trim down his first-team squad once and for all.

Liverpool looking to sell four

There were a number of young players who impressed while Liverpool were out in the USA. The likes of Trey Nyoni, for example, might have had designs on staying with the seniors.

However, we think it was a good idea for Slot to trim the fat once all of his big names returned. He needed to get an idea of what his squad truly looks like.

As Liverpool look to move ahead in the transfer window, it will be helpful for the 45-year-old to work with his core group for a little while at least.

And before Sunday’s Anfield double-header against Sevilla and Las Palmas, the Liverpool ECHO noted who remained a part of that, and who could soon leave it.

The likes of Ben Doak, Owen Beck, James McConnell, Luca Stephenson, Marcelo Pitaluga and Harvey Davies are named as players who could still depart on-loan.

Meanwhile, it’s claimed that Nyoni, Amara Nallo and Harvey Blair were ‘always expected’ to drop back down to the academy after this summer’s tour.

Meanwhile, Slot kept the young trio of Fabio Carvalho, Tyler Morton and Sepp van den Berg in training despite rumours they could leave. Nat Phillips is also noted to have taken part with the main group.

It’s claimed that all four will be involved in some capacity at Anfield on Sunday, however, the quartet could also reportedly have been ‘sold for good’ by the time the transfer deadline passes.

What’s the situation of all four?

While it does not seem inevitable that all four of these players will leave before August the 30th, it’s true that each of them are attracting signigicant interest.

It’s been claimed that Liverpool are trying to start a bidding war for Fabio Carvalho after dismissing a £15m bid from Southampton for the 21-year-old.

Another bid was turned by for Phillips, meanwhile, coming from Turkish side Trabzonspor.

Liverpool have reportedly rejected many offers for Van den Berg, too, as a handful of clubs from Germany jostle for us services.

So far, the only one yet to see concrete bids come in for him is Morton. However, the 21-year-old is claimed to have admirers on the continent and it wouldn’t be a shock to see him leave either.
