Liverpool have turned down more than one offer for £25m player and are ‘totally happy’ with him

Liverpool have work to do as they look for the best landing spot for some of their young players.

The Reds have left it late to start their business. But with just three weeks of the transfer window remaining, a number of youngsters still look likely to leave.

Arne Slot was certainly impressed with what some members of the Liverpool academy showed him during the recent tour of the US.

But it still stands to reason that for many of the kids, a season spent away from Anfield getting first-team football would be more productive.

For some, it may even be time to move on permanently. However, despite the little time left to make things happen, Liverpool don’t look like being rushed into any decisions.

Liverpool ‘totally happy’ with Sepp van den Berg

Seeing the interest in a few of their fringe players, it could end up being that Liverpool bring some serious money into the coffers between now and September.

Fabio Carvalho has plenty of interest and could cost a fair whack, while Tyler Morton is attracting some top teams, too.

Beyond that pair, more talented young players could also depart. Pep Lijnders wants Bobby Clark at RB Salzburg and Ben Doak’s future may lie away from Liverpool as well.

Another who has been very heavily linked with an exit this summer has been Sepp van den Berg.

Van den Berg wants to leave Liverpool after establishing himself as a starter at Mainz last year. However, with time ticking down to the transfer deadline, the 22-year-old is still in the first-team squad.

And according to journalist Florian Plettenberg, it’s still unclear what will happen with Van den Berg. The journalist says that Liverpool have turned down ‘concrete’ offers for the Dutchman, but his future ‘remains open.’

“Stuttgart, Hoffenheim, Wolfsburg, Mainz, M’gladbach and Leverkusen are/were all keen to sign Sepp van den Berg,” says the German reporter. “Some teams have made concrete offers to Liverpool for the 22 y/o defender but they were all rejected. Some teams still hope for a loan (Mainz).

“But: LFC demand £20-25m for him at this stage and they were totally happy with his performances in recent weeks. Future remains open. No decision yet. Contract valid until 2026.”

Will Sepp van den Berg leave Liverpool?

At one stage this summer it had looked inevitable that Van den Berg would leave Liverpool. Now, though, we’re not so sure.

If the Reds concretely push ahead with a new centre-back signing, then you’d have to say that it looks very likely that Van den Berg will still go.

But having rejected offers already, it feels that Liverpool could keep the Netherlands U21 international if they do not bring anyone in.

How happy Van den Berg would be with that remains to be seen. He is not going to be a regular starter but should still be able to get 15-20 games under his belt.

From what Van den Berg has been saying recently, we don’t think that would be enough for him. But unless Liverpool have a replacement or his asking price is met, it’s going to have to be.
