Liverpool are the only Premier League side yet to sign a senior player in the summer transfer window as Arne Slot continues to work with the options at his disposal.

The Dutchman has already made a massive impression and has endured an unbeaten start to his Anfield tenure, with Liverpool winning each of their three pre-season friendlies in the USA.

Thiago Alcantara and Joel Matip left the club upon the expiry of their contract at the end of last season, while Adrian San Miguel rejected an extension from the Reds in favour of a return to Spain with Real Betis.

Further outgoings are expected this summer, with a handful of fringe players and youngsters expected to move on permanently or on loan.

As for potential incomings, Liverpool have thus far kept their cards close to their chest, but things could well be brewing behind the scenes.

Anthony Gordon was linked with a £75m move to Liverpool, but Newcastle United pulled the plug on the deal as they made a couple of other sales to fall in line with the PSR regulations.

The Reds have also been linked with young Argentina left-back Julio Soler, but another player who has reportedly attracted interest from the club is Marc Guehi, who impressed for England at Euro 2024.

The 24-year-old is a household name in the Premier League and enhanced his reputation with a string of assured displays at the back for the Three Lions as Gareth Southgate and co lost out to Spain in the Euro 2024 final.

Now, a report from Caught Offside states that Guehi is ‘impressed’ by Liverpool’s interest in him, with Newcastle also believed to be in the running for his signature.

Guehi will reportedly cost Liverpool £65m this summer but it remains to be seen if the Reds press ahead with their interest.

At the moment, Liverpool are well-stacked at the heart of the defence with Virgil van Dijk, Jarell Quansah, Ibrahima Konate, Joe Gomez and Sepp van den Berg, but with the latter two linked with transfers, the situation could change in the coming months.

Liverpool agreed a £45m deal to sell Gomez to Newcastle when they were locked in talks for Gordon, but it didn’t come to fruition. Van den Berg has featured in pre-season and made a good impression, but the Dutchman is not short of suitors and could decide to move on if he’s not promised regular minutes.

Guehi is definitely a player Liverpool admire, but whether or not they intensify their interest will depend on potential outgoings.
