Liverpool fans are looking forward to what could be an incredibly busy end to the transfer window.

The Reds have kept quiet this summer so far, with Arne Slot keen to get a feel of his players before dipping into the market.

However, it has now been claimed that Liverpool are targeting four new signings as they look to give Slot a boost to his first-team squad.

A new centre-back, a defensive midfielder and potentially two wide forwards are said to be on the wish list at Anfield.

While the identities of the defender and midfielder still remain something of a mystery, it is becoming clearer who one of the forward options may be.

Anthony Gordon could join Liverpool

It may be something of a surprise to Liverpool supporters to hear that their club is wanting two new forwards. Slot is already relatively stacked in the front line.

Nevertheless, it looks likely to be Mohamed Salah’s last season at Liverpool while there have been lots of rumours about Luis Diaz leaving.

Maybe the Reds are pre-empting both players going by trying to sort replacements ahead of time.

Up until now, the main player earmarked by Liverpool as being the top target up front has been Newcastle’s Anthony Gordon.

Liverpool were in discussions to buy Gordon in June with a medical for the player reportedly even being arranged before Newcastle pulled the plug.

But with Gordon keen on the move to Anfield, ESPN journalist Mark Ogden has claimed that a move could still happen this summer.

“Anthony Gordon is a player that Liverpool like and I think that deal might happen before the window closes at the end of August, definitely,” says Ogden.

“Newcastle would get the money to come in and add to the squad in terms of signing players. Like a lot of clubs, they’re not struggling with PSR, but they need to move people around,” he adds.

“Liverpool are keen on Anthony Gordon. Anthony Gordon I’ve been told is keen on going to Liverpool. We’ve got a month to go before the window closes and Liverpool need to get some players in.”

Liverpool ramp up Anthony Gordon interest

These are now very exciting times for Liverpool fans. It looks like the transfer activity is set to go into overdrive for the Reds.

In terms of Gordon, 12 months ago he would not have been a player any Liverpool supporter would have wanted anywhere near Anfield.

However, the 23-year-old has shaken off his Everton past and outed himself as a boyhood Red.

After an excellent season with Newcastle he wouldn’t come cheap. It has been claimed that Liverpool agreed a fee of £75m for Gordon with the Magpies before they got cold feet.

With that deal reportedly offset by Joe Gomez going the other way for £45m, perhaps Newcastle would actually wanted even more to sell Gordon now. Either way, it still sounds like it may happen.
