Liverpool look all set to have a busy final month of the summer transfer window.
The Reds have been deathly quiet up until this point, but with August now upon us, something feels to be brewing.
Arne Slot has now had three full games – and one against very good Premier League opposition – to assess what needs adding to his Liverpool squad.
It could be that the head coach decides he is happy with what he already has. After Liverpool players put in some good performances against Arsenal on Thursday, that would perhaps be understandable.
However, the feeling seems to be that Liverpool will sign two or three players over the coming weeks. With that in mind, journalist Fabrizio Romano has an interesting morning update on Anthony Gordon.

Liverpool still interested in Anthony Gordon
There was a fresh wave of anticipation from Reds fans on Wednesday, as it was revealed that Liverpool had arranged a medical for Gordon back in June.
The Reds reportedly agreed on a £75m fee with Newcastle, and were set to send Joe Gomez the other way for £45m.
But with the Magpies ultimately solving their PSR troubles with the sales of Elliot Anderson and Yankuba Minteh, they pulled the plug on the deal.
Gomez is now in limbo as he prepares to return to training and with Gordon’s head turned by Liverpool, the deal feels far from over.

As Reds supporters patiently wait for any further updates, transfer expert Romano took to his Daily Briefing to confirm that Liverpool ‘100%’ still appreciate Gordon.
“I’m receiving lots of questions on Anthony Gordon guys, but I was only told that Liverpool discussed several potential swap deals in June, not the specific values that have been mentioned elsewhere in the media,” says the reporter.
“I don’t have confirmation on the numbers being talked about but, for sure Liverpool wanted Gordon and they remain interested in the player, considering him an excellent winger,” Romano adds.
“Let’s see what Liverpool will do this month, but appreciation for Gordon remains; I’m 100% sure of that.”
Will Liverpool sign Anthony Gordon?
Liverpool have been operating so very quietly during this summer’s window. However, the one player who has had a lot of noise surrounding him is Gordon.
When the Reds get their hooks into a player like that, and decide that he is the one they want, it feels inevitable that they’ll end up getting him.
The big sticking point here is obviously that Newcastle do not want to lose Gordon. While that is fair enough, the Magpies have also made the crucial mistake of showing the player that they were open to selling him – and to his boyhood club no less.
With Gordon desperate to join Liverpool and the Reds keen to get him onboard, this does feel like one that will eventually happen.
Whether that’s this year or not is a different matter entirely. But over the next 30 days, every Liverpool supporter will be hoping that it is.
