Liverpool are doing something which indicates Mo Salah will leave at the end of the season

Liverpool are still waiting to show their hand during this summer’s transfer market.

The Reds have now touched down in America as they continue preparations for Arne Slot’s first season in charge.

Slot has been assessing the Liverpool squad over the past three weeks as he and sporting director Richard Hughes decide which direction to go in.

The new head coach and Hughes are working in collaboration along with the Liverpool owners to make the best decisions possible for the Reds.

And as the transfer market starts to enter its final month, Liverpool are reportedly making some moves which could indicate the end of the line for Mohamed Salah at the club.

Mo Salah likely to leave at season’s end

There has perhaps not been quite as much speculation as might have been expected around Salah this summer.

The Egyptian had a quiet end to the campaign and although he had initially been feared to be leaving for Saudi Arabia, it soon became clear that Salah would be staying at Liverpool.

Nevertheless, there is now the very real prospect that this will indeed be the 32-year-old’s final campaign at Anfield.

His contract is set to end next summer and as things stand, there seems yet to be any renewal discussions.

And according to the Liverpool ECHO, this lack of movement – and some activity elsewhere – could be key to deciphering what the future holds for Salah.

They claim it’s looking likely that Mo is ‘destined to leave’ Liverpool at the end of next season.

Although a move to Saudi Arabia reportedly ‘will not happen’ during what remains of the summer, there’s said to be an ‘acceptance’ that it may occur next year.

Liverpool’s recruitment team are claimed to be currently ‘scouring for a wide forward’ and are reportedly keen to get a head start on replacing Salah. This proactivity is said to be a clear ‘sign’ that Mo’s days at Anfield are numbered.

One last push for Mo Salah

After losing so many legends over the past few years, Liverpool fans have become used to the pain which sometimes follows the end of seasons.

But that’s what happens when you build a great football team. At some point, it has to come apart.

So many of the key players from Jurgen Klopp’s super team of 2018-2022 have already departed the club, along with the manager himself.

But – Klopp aside – none of those will be as keenly felt as Salah’s eventual exit will be. The Egyptian King has written his name into Liverpool history over the past seven years.

That sadness is for another day, though. Before then, the £34m man will surely be hellbent on making sure he leaves in exactly the way he’s spent most of his career with the Reds: scoring goals and winning trophies. Once more to the well, Mo. One last time.
