After years of being linked with Liverpool, Kylian Mbappe is finally set to leave PSG this summer.
With his contract coming to a close, rumours have surrounded Mbappe for months. Reports from as recent as this week put Liverpool in the frame, with the 25-year-old said to have been turned down by the Reds after approaching them last year.
Although there’s yet to be any confirmation, Mbappe looks all set to join Real Madrid. The only question that remains then, is who do PSG replace him with.
French outlet L’Equipe report that with the Paris club set to save over £170m in wages over the year, they’re set to go on a big recruitment drive.
And it’s claimed that rather than look to bring in just one to player to follow on from Mbappe, PSG will take a scattergun approach.
With this in mind, the name of Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah has reportedly been ‘circulating’ at the club. Salah is said to have admirers in Paris and could be one of those targeted this summer.
PSG looking at Salah
You can understand why PSG would now seriously be looking at Salah. With Mbappe confirmed to be on the move, they’ve got some big boots to fill at the Parc des Princes.
As Mo’s future at Liverpool continues to come under the microscope, there’s a feeling that he could be available this summer.
From the Egyptian’s point of view, it has always felt that he would only leave Anfield for Saudi Arabia. However, it’s likely that PSG could also pay him whatever the Saudi’s would, too.
Salah has already been pictured with the club’s owner, Nasser Al-Khelaifi in the past, so they are obviously familiar with each other. They’ve quite openly had meetings.
Despite all of that, the one sticking point could well be transfer fee. We know that PSG don’t mind spending big on players, but by all accounts they are trying to change their approach a little.

Gone are the days of dropping close to £200m each on Neymar and Mbappe. They’re focusing on younger players with higher potential rather than current superstars.
As Liverpool seem likely to get an enormous offer for Salah from Saudi Arabia, PSG would need to match that if they want in on this conversation. To us, that seems unlikely to happen.
Of course, our preferred option is that Liverpool – and Mo – once again rebuke any interest and keep the Egyptian King on Merseyside for longer. As Harvey Elliott recently detailed, he’s still an ‘unbelievable’ player.
Whatever happens, one thing’s for sure; this isn’t the last we’ve heard of this.
