Liverpool have been following 19-goal forward for five years, they could finally sign him now

It is no secret that sometimes Liverpool will scout a player for years before they make a move for him. For example, Dominik Szoboszlai had been followed by the club since his teenage years. The likes of Darwin Nunez and Luis Diaz were followed when they were still playing in South America.

RTK exclusively reported that Liverpool tried to sign an exciting teenager last month. He ended-up signing for a club in Belgium – but we reported Liverpool will continue to monitor him.

A similar case happened five years ago when the Reds were reported to be interested in an exciting Brazilian forward. Liverpool never won the race for his signature, but the club’s interest never seems to have gone away.

Liverpool could now move for Joao Pedro

The player we are talking about is of course, Joao Pedro. Five years ago, the Daily Mail reported that Liverpool were interested in the Brazilian while he was still playing for Fluminense. In the end, the Reds didn’t win the race for his signature.

Instead, Pedro moved to Watford, where he established himself as a promising player in England. But Liverpool’s interest always remained. Less than two years ago, when Sadio Mane left the club – the Daily Mail reported that Pedro was being eyed as a potential replacement.

Again, Liverpool didn’t make the move, and instead Pedro moved to Brighton. And it is while playing for his new club that the Brazilian has really started to flourish. He now has 19 goals in all competitions this season, and has even earned a senior international debut for the Brazilian national team.

Absolutely thriving right now, Pedro’s form could definitely attract Liverpool’s attention again. He is still only 22-years-old, and he now seems fully ready to make the step-up to a big club. After five years of keeping eyes on him – this summer could be the time to pursue a move for Liverpool.
