Liverpool are interested in pursuing a move for Watford’s young Brazilian forward Joao Pedro.

That’s according to The Daily Mail, who claim that the 20-year-old has ‘caught Liverpool’s eye’ this season in the Premier League.

Joao Pedro’s Watford teammate Ismaila Sarr could also reportedly be back on The Reds agenda.

It’s claimed that despite Liverpool’s interest, the relegated Hornets are ‘keen’ to keep Joao Pedro. Meanwhile, there is said to be some ‘concerns’ from The Reds over Sarr’s in-game intelligence.

A new name in the mix

With reports of Sadio Mane’s time at Liverpool now coming to an end, Liverpool are going to be linked with a plethora of forwards to replace him.

So far, those links have been limited to a small handful of names. Serge Gnabry is one who is cropping up occasionally, along with Arnaut Danjuma and Darwin Nunez.

Watford’s young Brazilian is a new, but exciting, name thrown into that mix. The youngster had a quietly impressive full debut season in the Premier League for Watford.

Liverpool’s kind of signing

Joao Pedro perhaps wasn’t as prominent as the Hornets had expected him to be as they were relegated once again.

All in all he managed three goals and a single assist from 28 appearances. Nothing much to write home about, but the forward still managed to make his mark.

The player signed from Fluminense in 2020 impressed with his dribbling ability and close control on the left-wing. Then manager Claudio Ranieri even called him ‘one of he best young players in the Premier League’ via The Evening Standard in January.

It’s unclear what kind of price it would take for Watford to consider letting their prospect go. With relegation back to the Championship confirmed though, it might be worth testing their resolve.

Some will be keen to see Liverpool bring in a big name to replace Mane. But on the face of it, Joao Pedro would look like much more of a ‘Liverpool signing.’ Let’s see if this one develops.
