Liverpool look highly unlikely to make any high-profile additions in the final days of the transfer market.
It had been expected to be a quiet month for the Reds. And unless anything out of the blue happens between now and Wednesday, that seems like being the case.
One move that could potentially happen though, is that of 18-year-old winger Momodou Sonko. Rousing The Kop exclusively revealed that Liverpool were in talks with BK Hacken to sign Sonko earlier this month.
There have since been claims that the Reds are pushing to get the deal done. And now, in quotes from Afton Bladet, Hacken sporting director Martin Ericsson has confirmed that there have been some offers for Sonko. Although he stopped short of mentioning who from.
“There are concrete, big offers, yes,” says Ericsson. “I don’t comment on any clubs. There’s a lot of speculation.
“Momo is an exceptional player. The commandments are at the level that we have considered them. There is not much time left in the transfer window but we don’t feel any stress.”
Bids come in for Sonko
Given this seemingly relaxed position from Hacken, it also feels unlikely that Sonko will be on the move over the next week.
It’s been reported that the Swedish club are virtually certain to bank themselves a record sale for the teenager. As a result, they won’t be rushed into losing him.
That shouldn’t really be a problem for Liverpool. Given that a mooted transfer of £4.5m would represent a record for Hacken, the Reds aren’t putting themselves out of pocket here.
It’s also clear that Sonko wouldn’t be heading straight into the Liverpool starting XI any time soon.

Consequently, from their point of view, there’s no harm in Hacken keeping their youth team product at the club until the summer. The youngster has already spoken about joining the Reds and is obviously keen on the move.
In the meantime, Sonko may as well get further experience in the senior environment before a potential switch to Anfield.
Other clubs may view things differently and push harder to sign the forward over the next few days. If that happens, maybe Liverpool will have to respond.
For now though, nothing looks like being imminent. Bids or no bids, we think Hacken sound like they’re planning ahead with Sonko for the time being.
