Liverpool believe they’ve got a 21-year-old youth product who’s now ready for the Premier League.
The Reds academy has been productive of late. Curtis Jones showed again last night that he’s a burgeoning superstar, while Trent Alexander-Arnold was in ridiculous form before an injury setback.
Meanwhile, Conor Bradley impressed against Fulham yesterday and Jarell Quansah continues to look the business. Happy days.
And now, according to The Daily Mail, Liverpool think they may have one more cab off the rank: Owen Beck.
Beck has been recalled after an excellent loan spell at Dundee and looks poised for first-team involvement.
The Reds have reportedly made the decision to send fellow left-back Luke Chambers on-loan to Wigan Athletic following a handful of senior experiences this season. Beck is said to be seen as being more ready for Premier League level and as a result is being kept around as an option.
Liverpool back Beck
Judging from what we saw from Chambers this season, the 19-year-old is not ready to be a first-team player for Liverpool.
He didn’t let anyone down when thrown into the breach across four games, but he didn’t put in the kind of displays which suggest he should be kept around, either.
Beck on the other hand has been excelling up in Scotland. Upon his recall to Liverpool at the very start of the month, Dundee described his time there as ‘outstanding both on and off the field’ [dundeefc.co.uk].
No, it isn’t Liverpool, but that’s a very decent report for a player who already has two senior Reds games under his belt.

Beck looked a promising prospect when given some chances during the 2021/22 season. With Bradley on the other wing, the pair were real livewires in the Carabao Cup.
Putting all of that together, and we’d have to agree with Liverpool here. Beck is more ready than Chambers.
With Andy Robertson closing in on a return and Kostas Tsimikas not far away either, it may be that the Welshman never gets the chance to prove it.
We’d hoped Beck might be involved against Fulham last night. But despite being given an on-bench lecture by Jurgen Klopp, he never made it on. The young man clearly has Klopp’s and Liverpool’s belief, though. Let’s hope we see him on the pitch at some stage.
