Liverpool have been speaking with Fabio Carvalho about his future after recalling him from RB Leipzig.
Carvalho spent an unhappy six months or so at Leipzig, making just one Bundesliga start throughout the first-half of the season.
Now back at Liverpool – who were said to have been furious with Leipzig’s treatment of their player – Carvalho looks due to go out on-loan again.
But speaking to Give Me Sport, journalist Dean Jones says that beyond that, the former Fulham youngster wants to prove himself at Liverpool next season.
“I’m told there are already four or five clubs knocking on the door [for Carvalho on loan], and more are expected to do so in the next week or so,” Jones reports. “Liverpool are having conversations with Carvalho about exactly what they are looking to get out of the rest of this season and, beyond that, what the plan will be longer-term.
“Carvalho wants to hear how he will get into the Liverpool picture because he wants to be in that squad for next season. You hear about how they might build the squad long-term. If Mohamed Salah ends up leaving, that could open up space within the Liverpool set-up.”
Carvalho desperate for Reds stay
Whatever Carvalho’s future, the next six months are going to be absolutely huge for him. It’s imperative that he finds the right club to join.
For us, we’d happily like to see him stay at Liverpool for the remainder of the season. The Reds are still fighting on four fronts and the Portugal U21 international would surely come in handy at some point.
Nevertheless, it seems that he’s destined to head out again later this month.
With that in mind then, we’d prefer Carvalho to go to Wolves. The Molineux club are seemingly keen on him and we believe that the youngster could thrive under the tutelage of Gary O’Neil.

Building a good platform at Wolves would then allow Carvalho to come back to Liverpool full of confidence in the summer.
If the Reds once again make the wrong choice of temporary team for Fabio, then it’s hard to see how he resurrects his Liverpool career.
Come the summer he’ll be 22. And if he’s failed to make an impact at two different clubs, then it’ll be difficult to justify his place in the Liverpool squad.
Of course, we’d love Carvalho to succeed at Anfield and there’s every chance that he still might. He’s obviously determined to do so. But these next weeks and months are crucial to that. Let’s hope he finds the right club.
