Liverpool will have to brace themselves for fresh interest in Mohamed Salah, as another club joins the race.
The Reds batted off Saudi Pro League side Al Ittihad in the summer, keeping Salah in the wake of a £100m offer.
So far, their decision to reject all comers for the Egyptian has paid off. Salah has been exceptional this season, joint top of Premier League’s scoring and assist charts at the half-way stage of the campaign.
But according to journalist Rudy Galetti, that form may have simply intensified interest in the 31-year-old. Taking to X this morning, Galetti claimed that another Saudi club has now ‘made contact’ with Salah over a move in 2024.
“A new Saudi Arabian club joined the race for Mohamed Salah,” reports the journalist. “Contacts with his entourage already started to explore the opportunity for a transfer at the end of the season.
“Last summer, the Egyptian agreed personal terms with Al Ittihad, but Liverpool rejected all attempts.”
New club enter Salah picture
Although the interest came from Al Ittihad last year, there was always a suggestion that which Saudi club wanted Salah was fairly interchangeable.
After all, there are four teams in the league that are now owned and controlled by the state.
Which one of them eventually lands Salah doesn’t really seem to matter in the eyes of the powers that be.
With that in mind, the other club that has already been named as being potentially interested in Mo is Al Hilal, the club of Neymar, Aleksandr Mitrovic, Kalidou Koulibaly et al.

There is of course the possibility that it’s Al Ahli who want the Liverpool man, too. That could see Salah link up with former Reds teammate Roberto Firmino. Although with reports that Firmino could leave this month, the Brazilian may no longer be there to welcome him.
Finally, the last option would seem likely to be Al Nassr. This would be a move that would also see Salah reunited with another third of the legendary former Liverpool forward line.
It would certainly be interesting to see the power dynamic between Mo, Sadio Mane and Cristiano Ronaldo.
Nevertheless, if Salah keeps up this kind of form, then why would Liverpool choose to sell him? The Saudi Pro League perhaps hasn’t kicked on as expected this season and in terrific form, surely Mo would prefer to stay and perhaps even sign a new deal at Anfield. For now, all options appear to be on the table.
