Luis Diaz has admitted that his recent disallowed goal against Tottenham Hotspur hit him very hard.
Diaz was at the centre of one of the most controversial refereeing decisions of recent times last weekend, as his perfectly good goal was ruled out after a communications error.
There has since been plenty of discussion about that decision and the ramifications of it. But up until now, Diaz has kept quiet.

The international break is usually a good time for true feelings to come out though, as players speak to their home nation’s press. And Liverpool’s No.7 has today continued that trend, telling Colombian outlet El Heraldo how he now views the incident.
“The goal issue was a bit complicated,” Diaz admits. “At the time it hit me very hard, but not only to me, but to all my teammates.
“In the middle of the game we talked about it a lot, it was a positive result that was going to help us. These are things that happen, the referees are human. You have to take it easy and for the next one it will be.”
A very level-headed outlook from Lucho, who would every right to be far more upset.
Diaz offers VAR verdict
It’s good to see that amongst all the hysteria from rival clubs about Liverpool keeping the door open to a potential replay, the Reds players are staying calm.
As mentioned, Diaz would have complete justification if he were ranting and raving about the decision.
But that’s exactly what Liverpool’s rivals want to see – a resurgent Reds losing their cool early into the season.

Despite claims to the contrary though, Jurgen Klopp has been incredibly calm over the whole situation. Both in the immediate aftermath and in the days since, the Liverpool manager has handled himself brilliantly.
In terms of the players’ side, Trent Alexander-Arnold also dealt well with questioning ahead of Thursday’s Europa League game, while others have maintained a respectful silence.
Given the pathetic nature of the decision – and the consequences it could have for Liverpool’s season – that should be commended.
As Diaz alludes to, the next contentious decision could well go in our favour. You’ve just got to keep plugging away. Keep at it, Lucho.
