Reported Liverpool target Daichi Kamada is set to see a proposed move to AC Milan fall through.
Kamada had looked poised to join Milan, having left Eintracht Frankfurt as a free agent. There had been claims that Liverpool were hoping to disrupt the transfer though, with a ‘hijacking’ supposedly on the cards.
And as per journalist Fabrizio Romano’s Twitter update last night, that still remains a possibility. Although there’s no mention of the Reds specifically, Kamada now looks unlikely to become a Milan player after all.

“AC Milan, working to seal [Samuel] Chukwueze deal very soon… it means that Daichi Kamada deal would collapse,” says the journalist.
“Kamada had verbal agreement with Milan but deal looks set to collapse due to full extra UE spots. AC Milan have choosen [sic] Chukwueze.
“Kamada, available as free agent soon.”
Kamada’s Milan move falls through
Liverpool’s interest in Kamada had been extensively covered in the lead up to the summer window.
Back in February, the Japan international was first mentioned as being of interest to the Reds. That interest was reportedly ramped up in March.
Come May, Kamada was reported to have ‘snubbed’ a move to Anfield in favour of Milan.

If that really was the case, then there’s no reason Liverpool wouldn’t put themselves back in the picture for him again.
We’re not sure exactly how the 26-year-old would fit in to Jurgen Klopp’s plans, though. One of those ethereal players who’s not quite a midfielder, not quite a forward, he isn’t exactly what Liverpool need right now.
First and foremost they need a specialist defensive midfielder. Secondly, they could do with another box-to-box type to fill out the squad. Kamada is neither.
Still, as Liverpool search for value in the market, the lack of a transfer fee here would be attractive to them. Perhaps Klopp could mould Kamada into being the right fit from there. Unfortunately, we can’t quite see how that happens.
