Liverpool are interested in signing Eintracht Frankfurt midfielder Daichi Kamada on a free transfer this summer.
Kamada is set to be one of the highest-profile players available for nothing at the end of the season. And as per 90min, there will be quite a scramble for the 26-year-old’s services.
They claim that Liverpool will join the likes of Manchester City, Tottenham Hotspur and Newcastle United in vying for Kamada.
From the continent, Barcelona, PSG and Borussia Dortmund are also said to be ‘admirers’ of the Japan international.
Plenty to like about Kamada
In a market where Liverpool need to be targeting a relatively high number of additions, they can’t sniff at a value signing.
And from those players set to be available for free this summer, Kamada would perhaps top the bunch.
The Frankfurt man has been in brilliant form this season. Bagging 13 goals from 27 games in all competitions, he has really come into his own of late.
It’s the kind of run which has vindicated BT Sport pundit Lucy Ward calling him ‘exceptional’ during last season’s Europa League-winning campaign.
Thierry Henry is another to have raved about the diminutive midfielder. Speaking to CBS Sports about Kamada last year, the Arsenal legend gave an insight into the kind of player he sees in the Japanese.
“I like the way he thinks. I like the way he plays,” he said. “Not really strong, he doesn’t jump too high and he’s not really fast. But what he does very well is that he always appears in the box.
“He can’t run past people. So what he does is he lays it off, then make sure he follows and makes it inside the box. He stays alive every single time. I really like Kamada. He’s a very good player. He will find a way to score.”
That sounds like the kind of player Liverpool could do with right now. Shorn of goals and pretty much everything else from midfield this season, Kamada could be the little spark they need when games aren’t going their way. And he’s available for absolutely nothing. We’re interested.
