Liverpool haven’t given up hope of signing Eintracht Frankfurt playmaker Daichi Kamada this summer.
Kamada has reportedly been on Liverpool’s radar as they search for new additions in the off-season. As he prepares to leave Eintracht on a free transfer, he’s set to be a brilliant value player on the market. Unfortunately for Liverpool though, Kamada now looks set to snub the Reds’ interest in favour of AC Milan.
However, according to Calciomercatoweb, things aren’t quite finalised between the Japan international and the Italians. They claim that although Kamada has ‘given his word’ to Milan, other clubs – including Liverpool – have reportedly ‘not yet lost hope.’

The Reds are said to be one of a handful of clubs willing to offer Kamada a higher salary than he’s set for in Milan. As a result, the Rossoneri are reportedly desperate to get the 26-year-old to sign on the dotted line as soon as possible.
With that in mind, it’s claimed that Monday and Tuesday next week have been circled as ‘Kamada days’ by Milan. Until everything is official though, they are claimed to be keeping one eye open on a potential move from Liverpool.
Kamada all set to sign for Milan
In truth, this is a rather contradictory assessment from this Italian outlet. On the one hand, they claim that Kamada isn’t interested in any proposals but the one on the table from Milan. On the other, they report that other clubs could yet swoop in.
The inference is that the Japanese already has his heart set on the Serie A club. They’re ready to offer him a contract and he’s ready to sign that, so what could go wrong?
Of course, you never know in football. But this sounds to be as good as a done deal as it’s possible to get.

Despite that, Liverpool’s interest in Kamada does appear to have been genuine. The Frankfurt man has had an excellent couple of seasons in Germany. As BT Sport pundit Lucy Ward said last season, he’s been ‘exceptional’ for the Eagles. He’ll be a catch for Milan, who love a free signing.
From our point of view though, we can’t really see where the former player would fit in at Anfield. He’s a little in the attacking midfielder mould that has led to the frustration of the likes of Fabio Carvalho. Liverpool don’t really play with a player in that position.
Physically, he’s a lot closer to a Cody Gakpo than he is to a Carvalho, but still, Liverpool already have Gakpo. They don’t need another one.
So, as good-a player as Kamada looks to be, we’re fine with missing out on this one. Let Milan have their day, we’ve got bigger fish to fry.
