Reported Liverpool target Levi Colwill will not let emotional ties to Chelsea get in the way of a decision over his future.
Colwill’s possible exit from Stamford Bridge has been one of the ongoing stories of the summer transfer window. After an impressive spell at Brighton last season, he’s set to demand a bigger role at Chelsea. Whether he gets it or not looks likely to decide his future.
The Blues may feel they’re in a good position regardless given that Colwill is an academy graduate. However, according to the Evening Standard, that may not actually be the case.

They claim that the 20-year-old is an ‘ambitious’ young player who won’t allow emotional ties to Chelsea ‘cloud his judgement.’ If talks with new manager Mauricio Pochettino don’t go to his liking, the suggestion is that Colwill could push to leave.
If he does, Liverpool are once again named as a club ‘showing interest’ in him. So too are Manchester City.
With three years remaining on his Chelsea deal, Colwill’s current club are in a strong position. But should the England U21 star demand to be sold, the Reds look set to be in the mix.
Colwill not against Chelsea exit
On the face of it, Chelsea would be wise to give Colwill what he’s asking for here. If it’s game time he wants, then he’s probably good enough to get it at Stamford Bridge.
Putting him in the side right from the off next season would seemingly quell his need to go elsewhere.
Besides, there’s no guarantee that Colwill would start for Liverpool. If Jurgen Klopp plans to stick with two centre-backs next season, he isn’t getting in ahead of Ibrahima Konate and Virgil van Dijk.

If Klopp is plotting to stick a left-sided centre-back in to counter Trent Alexander-Arnold’s move into the middle though, then that could of course change.
Nevertheless, a deal for Colwill would be hard to do. In getting £60m for Mason Mount and £65m for Kai Havertz, Chelsea have shown that they won’t sell players on the cheap.
Given how highly rated Colwill is and the fact the Blues don’t want to lose him, the defender could even command a fee bigger than Havertz.
To that end, there have been claims that Liverpool would be willing to break the bank for Colwill. By the sounds of it, they might have to. But if the player himself is happy to leave the club he’s been at since the age of 8, it will definitely help things along.
