‘Unbelievable’ player’s teammates are convinced he’s about to join Liverpool, they’re all discussing it

Alexis Mac Allister’s Brighton teammates are convinced the midfielder is joining Liverpool this summer.

The Reds are reportedly already in direct contact with the little Argentinian over a move to Anfield. And according to The Daily Mail, Mac Allister’s Brighton colleagues have ‘openly discussed’ the prospect of him joining Jurgen Klopp’s squad.

They claim that those in the Seagulls ranks now believe that Mac Allister is ‘destined’ to move to Liverpool this summer.

However, despite their confidence, a deal is said to be not yet certain. The Mail report that both Manchester clubs still retain an interest in Mac Allister. This could prove a late stumbling block for the Reds.

So too could Brighton’s asking price of the 24-year-old. The South Coast side will reportedly ask for up to £70m for any sale to be completed. It’s claimed that the demand of such a fee could ‘pose a problem’ to Liverpool’s chances.

Mac Allister move edges nearer

Over the last several days, talk of Mac Allister to Liverpool has ramped up further and further. It would now be a major surprise if the Reds didn’t land the World Cup winner this summer.

Perhaps the timing isn’t wholly coincidental, with news about Jude Bellingham’s imminent move to Real Madrid also filtering out yesterday.

But will Reds fans be pleased with Mac Allister as an alternative to the ‘dream’ signing of Bellingham? Well, what we can say is that the two are pretty different players.

Bellingham is a tall, athletic, box-to-box midfielder. Mac Allister is almost the opposite of that. Diminutive, workman-like and cute in his play. As pundit Mark Schwarzer said, he’s an ‘unbelievable’ player, but he isn’t the Borussia Dortmund teenager.

So, rather than being a ‘Bellingham alternative,’ we think the Brighton man may have been on the agenda Jude or no Jude. In the meantime, it seems likely that Liverpool will continue to search for their perfect box-to-box man, too.

For now though, this one feels a little like simply a waiting game. With the Brighton squad seemingly discussing Mac Allister’s next move, let’s hope the Argentine has had a chance for sit down with Adam Lallana…
