A new Jeremie Frimpong interview has seen the Liverpool wing-back discuss a tough season, settling in on Merseyside, and playing with legends like Mohamed Salah and Andy Robertson.
Frimpong arrived last summer and has now had one season alongside two of the defining players of Liverpool’s modern era. With Salah and Robertson set to leave Anfield this summer, the Dutchman has explained how much he has taken from working with them every day.
It is not just their quality on the pitch that Liverpool will miss, either. Frimpong’s comments make clear that both players have remained huge presences in the dressing room.
Who should advance into the semi-final as Liverpool’s Player of the Season?
Hugo Ekitike or Virgil van Dijk? 👀
Jeremie Frimpong lauds Liverpool legends Mo Salah and Andy Robertson
Salah and Robertson will leave Liverpool having achieved just about everything possible at the club.
Both were central to the Champions League win in 2019 and the Premier League title triumph in 2020. Salah has become one of the greatest forwards in Liverpool history, while Robertson helped redefine what the club expected from a modern full-back.
Neither player has had their best season this year. Even so, their influence has still been obvious.
For Frimpong, getting one year alongside them has clearly meant a lot.
“Yeah, I’m really happy I was a part of them still being in Liverpool and obviously they’re leaving next season. Robbo is such a legend in Liverpool. So is Mo. So it was just a privilege to play with them and their personalities are top, really top.

“Mo, obviously playing alongside Mo, one of the best in football, you know, so that was really nice for me to play with him and obviously Robbo as well. So yeah, I’m grateful for that.”
So much can be learned from professionals of that level.
Frimpong has made sure to soak it all in ahead of their departure, and his words only show how big a loss this will be.
Jeremie Frimpong admission puts Liverpool summer challenge into perspective
Liverpool already had plenty to do this summer before Salah and Robertson’s exits were factored in.
Now, the task looks much larger. It is not just about replacing the player, but replacing the personality. Liverpool can sign talent, but finding players who understand the club, the standards and the weight of expectation is far more complicated.
Frimpong was also asked about that aspect: “100%. They talk about Liverpool standards, what Liverpool’s about, how amazing the fans are.
“Obviously when times are hard, they’ll expect more from you, more from you, but they’re really loving and they’ll never give up on you, you understand? So things like that.”
Salah and Robertson have not just been elite footballers for Liverpool. They have been part of the culture at Anfield for years.
Which Liverpool legend will you miss more: Mohamed Salah or Virgil van Dijk?
Two of the greats came up with the heroics against Everton, but nothing lasts forever… ☹️
Frimpong will now be one of the players expected to help carry that forward.
Liverpool are not simply losing two names this summer. They are losing experience, personality and know-how. That is why replacing Salah and Robertson properly will be one of the biggest challenges of the window.
