Mohamed Salah will leave Liverpool after 2025/26, but there has been a delay in the Egyptian securing his next move.
A whole host of potential destinations for Salah have been mooted this year, including a potential transfer to the MLS.
The Saudi Pro League seems to be the most likely destination, but ‘major administrative chaos’ at Al-Ittihad has put a potential transfer on hold.

Mohamed Salah open to Al-Ittihad move but transfer on hold
Journalist Ismael Mahmoud has shared an update on the future of Salah this week.
He says that there is ‘almost a mutual desire from both sides’ to see the winger move to Al-Ittihad.
However, the ‘administrative chaos’ at the club has delayed a deal, and if he does not move to that Saudi Pro League team, Al-Hilal could be the other option.
The journalist explained: “Mohamed Salah is the top target for the Saudi League in the current summer transfer window, and we mentioned that back at the beginning of February, even before Salah’s decision to leave Liverpool. The goal is to transfer him to Al-Ittihad club.
“Al-Ittihad club is currently experiencing major administrative chaos, so the negotiation process to finalize Salah’s move to Al-Ittihad—we can say—is on hold until a new administration comes in for the club and gives final approval to complete the deal.
“A spot for Mohamed Salah is available at Al-Ittihad with Moussa Diaby nearing a departure in the summer, and it’s almost a mutual desire from both sides. Potential destinations for Salah in Saudi Arabia if he doesn’t transfer to Al-Ittihad: Al-Hilal.”

When will Mohamed Salah play his last game for Liverpool?
Regardless of what happens in the summer, Liverpool fans are still waiting to see Salah in action for their team one final time.
The Egyptian is currently injured and missed the 1-1 draw with Chelsea this past weekend.
It means the Reds now have just two games left this season in which he could feature: Aston Villa on Friday, then Brentford next weekend.
Arne Slot last provided an update on Salah after Chelsea, and it does seem like he will feature in one or both games before waving goodbye to Anfield.
Slot said: “Mo is close to returning, Ali is close to returning. With Flo we have to wait and see how he’s recovering after what he has.”
