Liverpool’s 2025/26 Premier League season has been poor, but Arne Slot still has one of the highest points per game totals of any manager in the Reds’ history.
The calls for Slot to go are growing louder and louder with each passing game, with the most recent clash seeing match-going fans booing the team after they couldn’t beat a Tottenham Hotspur side trying to avoid relegation to the Championship.
It has been a remarkable fall for the Dutchman, but the fact that he won the league title in his first campaign has helped him maintain a high points per game total of 1.96.

But to show how badly things have gone this season, if Slot had started his Liverpool career in 2025/26, he would be sitting on just 1.63 points per game in the Premier League.
That would make him one of the worst managers the club has had in the competition’s history, though still not as woeful as Roy Hodgson’s brief stint in charge.
In comparison, despite being the Reds’ longest-serving manager since the Premier League began (2015-2024), Jurgen Klopp still has the highest points total, sitting at 2.11 in the league.
Liverpool now have eight more Premier League games to play this term, and Slot may well end up dropping below third-place Rafa Benitez if things continue to go badly.
The Spaniard did not enjoy much success in the league during his six-year spell, but a 1.90 points per game total over such a long period is still solid.

If Slot were to stick around for another season, it seems likely that the total would start to decline even more.
But while it remains to be seen what will happen with the 47-year-old, the list does highlight just how good a manager Klopp was for Liverpool.
Even taking into account the 2015/16 season, during which the German wasn’t in charge the entire time, and Liverpool still finished eighth, he has still managed to outperform every other manager on the list, even though he was in the dugout for the longest time.
