Liverpool are expected to make several changes to their squad once 2026 rolls around.

In January, it is thought that a move for Marc Guehi could be on the cards despite the player becoming a free agent later next year.

Further forward, Antoine Semenyo will be available to sign when his release clause becomes active.

Tottenham Hotspur want Semenyo as well, and the North London outfit are also thought to have an interest in another of Liverpool’s transfer targets.

Rousing The Kop reported back in November that Liverpool were keen on Yan Diomande of RB Leipzig.

Liverpool have Yan Diomande in their sights

Now, a fresh update on a potential move for the forward has been provided this week.

Journalist Florian Plettenberg has named Liverpool as one of several teams to have Diomande in their sights.

He adds that Leipzig will consider offers in excess of €100m (around £88.7m) for the ‘incredible’ player.

Taking to X/Twitter, he wrote: “Top clubs from England all have Yan Diomande in their sights: Liverpool, Chelsea, Tottenham, Manchester City and many more. #LFC

“Contrary to other reports, there are no concrete or advanced talks with any club.

“Contract until 2030 with no release clause. A move after the World Cup is possible. Leipzig are considering a fee of over €100 million. Incredible talent.”

How Yan Diomande compares to Cody Gakpo

Cody Gakpo is currently injured, but the Dutchman has been Liverpool’s primary left-winger this season.

Gakpo has struggled at times, but when fit, Arne Slot favours him over the likes of Federico Chiesa and Rio Ngumoha.

The former PSV talent has five goals and four assists to his name in 21 matches across all competitions this term.

But should Diomande arrive next summer, he could be competing with Gakpo for a starting berth on the left.

The 19-year-old is a versatile forward able to operate on both flanks, but the majority of his senior appearances have come in Gakpo’s position.

He’s currently outperforming the Liverpool man on the goal contributions front this term, scoring seven and assisting four in 16.

The Bundesliga is, of course, a different level from the Premier League, but the teenage star is already showing huge potential ahead of what could be a big summer for him.
