Liverpool were beaten by Crystal Palace once again on Wednesday evening.
The two sides faced off in the fourth round of the Carabao Cup, and even before the game started, it was clear that Liverpool would struggle to get anything out of it.
Arne Slot chose to start an extremely inexperienced team, despite the Reds desperately needing a confidence boost before it gets too late.
Granted, some of the players that Slot chose to start did well, such as Kieran Morrison, but for the most part, it felt like the Reds were at a massive disadvantage.

This is also how Jamie Redknapp saw things with the former Liverpool ace questioning Slot’s starting XI.
Jamie Redknapp thinks Arne Slot was making it difficult for himself in Liverpool’s game against Crystal Palace
While speaking on Sky Sports before the tie, Redknapp gave his verdict on the Reds’ line-up and why he thought the Dutchman was just making things harder for himself.
“I’m really surprised by the team he’s picked,” he said.
“I felt today was a big opportunity, go strong, get a win, get some confidence back.
“I’m not saying they can’t win with that young side but you’ve made it very difficult for yourself.
“We’re trying to figure out how he’s going to play.
“He’s the only man who knows, when he watches the training, who is right, what’s their fitness and confidence.”
During Jurgen Klopp’s era, the Carabao Cup and the FA Cup were often viewed as opportunities for younger players.
However, last season, Slot seemed to go against the grain and often started a decent chunk of his starting XI. This was made clear by Liverpool getting to the final against Newcastle.
This season, nothing is going Liverpool’s way in any competition, and without some serious improvements, their season could be over before it’s even properly started.
How Arne Slot proved Jamie Redknapp’s claim about his line-up correct
One of Redknapp’s key points about Liverpool’s line-up is that Slot made things difficult for himself.
The Reds have now lost six out of their last seven games, with their 5-1 win over Eintracht Frankfurt seemingly a fluke.
And, even though it’s clear that Liverpool need results to start going their way, Slot is constantly finding ways to make it more difficult for himself and his men.

As mentioned, some players put in decent performances, but others, such as Milos Kerkez, performed way below the standards they set last season.
Unless Slot manages to find a starting XI that works well together in a formation that gets the best out of them, it’s hard to see Liverpool being anywhere near challenging for the title by the end of the season.
