Liverpool ended a run of four successive losses with a win away in the Champions League.

The Reds ran rampant in Frankfurt as they picked up their second win in the competition, this one in more convincing circumstances after winning 5-1.

Goals from Hugo Ekitike, Virgil van Dijk, Ibrahima Konate, Cody Gakpo and Dominik Szoboszlai helped seal the win for Liverpool, with this result hopefully getting them back on track.

Here are how the players rated in Frankfurt.

Defence

Giorgi Mamardashvili: 5 – Despite Frankfurt being a very attacking side, the Georgian did not have a lot to do at all and could not do much about their opening goal. A surprisingly quiet evening for him.

Jeremie Frimpong: N/A – Played just 19 minutes and was taken off with what looked to be a hamstring injury. Nightmare evening for a player who so desperately needs to impress.

Ibrahima Konate: 7- After a brilliant game against Man United at the weekend, Konate took his form into this one. He made some important interceptions, looked more comfortable on the ball and produced a brilliant header for the third goal.

Virgil van Dijk: 7- Looked a lot more composed and comfortable with Andy Robertson alongside him, which was good to see after a very poor game on Sunday. The captain was a threat from set pieces and just like his centre-back partner, got on the scoresheet with a bullet header.

Andy Robertson: 6 – The Scotsman could have perhaps done a little better with Frankfurt’s goal as it came from his side, but he certainly looked like an improvement on Milos Kerkez. There felt like a little more balance on this side and his vision and then execution to assist Hugo Ekitike was superb. His crosses were a threat throughout.

Midfield

Florian Wirtz: 8 – Started on the right and looked much better than in recent weeks. Looked like he enjoyed the freedom and a lot of good play came through the German. He also got that long-awaited goal involvement by assisting Cody Gakpo. A much-improved evening for the 22-year-old.

Curtis Jones: 7 – Got a chance from the start and showed some promise. Worked hard, put challenges in when needed and was progressive in his play, but probably did not make the impact he would have liked. Was unlucky not to get an assist after a good pass to Isak early in the first-half.

Dominik Szoboszlai: 8 – Started the game a little deeper but certainly helped the balance of the team. Helped out defensively and grabbed an assist with a pinpoint corner first half, but really showed his attacking threat in the second half. Took his goal brilliantly from range and proved yet again how vital he is to the team.

Cody Gakpo: 7 – As always, Gakpo worked hard down the left and created some good chances, most notably for Bradley with a great ball in. He also put the corner in for van Dijk’s goal, so was another decent outing for the Dutchman, even if he was a little quiet in the second-half.

Attack

Alexander Isak: 5 – Should have done better with a chance early in the first-half, but then tested the goalkeeper with a decent effort later in the game. Subbed off at half-time, though, will mean he is not happy, while Liverpool fans still await to see why they paid all that money for him.

Hugo Ekitike: 7 – Proved yet again why he should be starting every week. Worked hard, had some neat touches, but most importantly showed great composure and took his goal well. Must start against Brentford on Saturday.

Substitutes

Conor Bradley: 6 Almost scored twice throughout the game, with his header in the first-half saved well and his second later in the game tipped onto the post. Worked hard as usual and looked a threat going forward, but more importantly, avoided a booking which would have meant he was suspended for the Real Madrid game in a few weeks.

Federico Chiesa: 6 Was unlucky not to score with an acrobatic effort but, as always, brought a lot of energy to the front line. Good to see him get a good amount of minutes and he will likely get more going forward.

Alexis Mac Allister: 5 – Came on with the game wrapped up just to do a job in the middle of the park and did exactly that. Nothing to write home about, though.

Mohamed Salah: 4 – Didn’t really get into the game but had two chances right at the end. Probably should have passed it the first one and second one went way over the bar.

Joe Gomez: 5 – The last to come on, but had nothing to do due to Liverpool’s dominance.
