Micah Richards was going to wear a shirt to mock Jamie Carragher if Liverpool were beaten by Eintracht Frankfurt on Wednesday.
Fortunately for the Reds and Carragher, however, that didn’t happen as Liverpool smashed Frankfurt 5-1 in their Champions League clash.
Indeed, they did concede the first goal of the night, with many fans likely thinking that a repeat of the Manchester United defeat was coming.
Wednesday’s Champions League tie was one of the Reds’ best performances over the last month or so, with Arne Slot’s new 4-4-2 system getting the best out of his first-team squad.

However, if they ended up losing, things would’ve been massively different with Richards now sharing what was planned for Carragher in the CBS Sports studio.
Micah Richards’ t-shirt was going to mock Liverpool for losing five games in a row
Although Liverpool’s 2025-26 season started well with the club winning every single one of their five opening Premier League games, their good luck was bound to come to an end at some point.
A lot of the Reds’ performances weren’t all that good, with lucky last-minute winners often being the thing that set them apart from their opponents.
Once those had dried out, Liverpool’s cracks started to show and that’s why they ended up losing four games in a row.
And now, speaking on The Rest is Football Podcast, Richards has shared an insight into what his t-shirt was going to have on it if Liverpool were beaten.
“I was giving Jamie Carragher a bit of stick because I was on CBS with him,” he said.
“And they had a t-shirt ready for me if they did lose [5 in a row] for [the first time in] 72 years. But that wasn’t to be.”
Liverpool must continue working on Arne Slot’s new 4-4-2 system
Liverpool have had several problems with their team this season; however, there are two main points which seem to keep cropping up.
One of these is the lack of defensive stability the Anfield outfit have among their team.
Ibrahima Konate has been in terrible form for Liverpool, and Milos Kerkez still hasn’t got used to the thought of being a Liverpool player yet.
Both of these players have cost the Reds goals at some point, with others, such as Jeremie Frimpong, not being up to scratch either.
And, even though they spent most of their transfer budget on new attackers, some of them have failed to live up to the standards expected of them.
Several chances from Florian Wirtz are consistently created in each game, but more often than not, nothing ever comes of them.

This is why Slot’s new 4-4-2 system he tested against Frankfurt, could be exactly what Liverpool need.
It allows the wingers to have more freedom and choose where they want to be on the pitch, and it also allows the strikers to work off one another more while also giving their midfielders more than one option.
