Liverpool have been poor over the last couple of weeks.
Arne Slot’s men have failed to live up to the standards they set for themselves last season, which has caused fans and pundits to start worrying.
Going into the 2025-26 season, many expected Liverpool to run away with the Premier League title again.
However, that hasn’t been the case with their two star signings, Alexander Isak and Florian Wirtz, failing to perform to a decent level.
It’s clear that Liverpool have some problems to figure out during the October international break, otherwise things could go from bad to worse in double quick time.

Liverpool’s recent run of poor form has prompted fans, journalists, and pundits to all weigh in on what the Anfield outfit must do to turn things back around.
Alexander Isak needs to be used as a left-winger by Liverpool this season
One of the main questions people have asked about Liverpool this season is how they’re going to keep Isak and Hugo Ekitike happy.
Both players are world-class and deserve to be starting for the Anfield outfit whenever possible.
Slot has often said that Ekitike can be used as a left-winger if needed, but, after what Nicky Butt said on The Good, The Bad & The Football Podcast, it feels like Isak should be the one used there instead.
“Do you know with Isak, I think I watched the game, I think he’s all over the show,” he said.
“If I was his manager, I would just say to him, stay the width of the penalty box. Stop running down the channels. He’s a centre forward.
“He should be the centre of the goal, trying to score goals. He’s doing too much running down the channels for me.
“And the amount of time you’re seeing down the left side, down the right side, coming too deep.
“And all that is like he’s wanting to do everything and show how good you are. And it’s good. It’s good from the lad to go and prove yourself, but stay in the middle and score goals.”
Arne Slot must find a new way to set Liverpool up this season
One thing that has been made abundantly clear this season is that Liverpool are going to have to change the way that they play.
Last season, their tactics worked due to how many goals Mohamed Salah was putting in the back of the net.
However, since his form seems to have dropped off over the last few weeks, Slot isn’t getting enough back from the Egypt international to justify leaving his right-back open to attacks.
One of the main ways they could do this is by having two central attackers with Milos Kerkez and Jeremie Frimpong doing all the work up and down the wings.
Indeed, if they wish to keep things as they are, having Isak coming in off the left could also work, especially if Salah was used as a number nine.
That way, in and out of possession, players could fill in the gaps when needed, and it would mean that the Reds aren’t as exposed at the back.

Of course, these are all ifs, buts, and maybes at the moment, but on the face of things, this feels like the best way forward for Liverpool.
That is, even if Isak, who Eddie Howe once described as “sensational,” is technically going to be played outside of his natural position.
