Liverpool secured a smash and grab win against Paris Saint-Germain on Wednesday evening.
The victory means the Reds will take a much needed 1-0 advantage into the second leg at Anfield next week.
Many will agree, however, that Arne Slot’s side did not deserve the win on the night, with Alisson Becker keeping Liverpool in the game on several occasions.
Alisson will rightfully take the headlines for his display in between the sticks, but there was actually another Liverpool performance that has arguably gone under the radar – namely that of Trent Alexander-Arnold.

Liverpool fans praise Trent Alexander-Arnold’s defensive display vs PSG
Slot praised Alexander-Arnold’s performance post-match, with the Dutchman claiming he ‘defended really well’.
Liverpool fans have seemingly echoed their manager’s claims, taking to social media to highlight Alexander-Arnold’s defensive display at the Parc des Princes.
One fan said via X (formerly Twitter): “Trent Alexander Arnold with one of his best defensive displays ever tonight. Didn’t lose his head even under intense pressure. Made vital challenges. So mature.”
A third fan said: “Tonight’s game showed how good Trent Alexander-Arnold can defend in big games, when it matters most. Locked up peak Ronaldo, Neymar, Suarez etc. back in the day and he’s still got it. He was really good tonight.”
“Trent Alexander-Arnold btw, I saw you son. What a performance tonight,” another supporter added.

Alexander-Arnold will hop to replicate PSG performance more often
It is not only Liverpool fans, however, who are highlighting the 26-year-old’s performance, with ex-Man Utd man Rio Ferdinand praising Alexander-Arnold on commentary.
“I tell you one thing, Trent Alexander-Arnold has been questioned a lot defensively, especially in one-v-one situations, but he’s stood up to every single test.”
The Reds right-back was a clear target for the PSG frontline, but he would rise to the occasion in difficult circumstances – something which has been shown by the stats.
| Trent Alexander-Arnold stats vs PSG | |
| Minutes played | 90 |
| Match rating | 7.0 |
| Tackles won | 2/3 |
| Defensive actions | 7 |

Alexander-Arnold has been criticised in the past for his defending, but his display versus PSG showed he can provide the goods in the big games.
