Dominik Szoboszlai has looked like a new player under Arne Slot at Liverpool.
Szoboszlai secured a £60m move to Liverpool from RB Leipzig during the summer of 2023 but his first season at Anfield was up and down.
The Hungarian star would step up on several occasions but would then have quieter periods throughout the 23/24 campaign.
Since the arrival of Slot, Szoboszlai’s consistency has gone up a level and the midfielder has become a key player for Liverpool under the Dutch coach.
Ally McCoist described Szoboszlai as ‘outstanding’ during the Reds’ most recent win over Newcastle and stats show the moment it all changed for the 24-year-old this season.

The moment Dominik Szoboszlai’s season at Liverpool changed
Szoboszlai has featured 36 times for Liverpool this season producing seven goals and six assists, but after a slow start, the Hungarian’s influence at the Premier League leaders increased.
Stats have pinpointed the November international break as the moment in which the campaign turned for Szoboszlai as all the midfielder’s stats increased.
Once this period passed, the Hungary international’s goals, assists, shots per 90, chances created, duels won and tackles won all shot up.
Szoboszlai has credited Slot for his improvement stating that the Dutch coach has played him further up the pitch and demands him to go forward more, which the 24-year-old is happy to do.
Jamie Carragher wanted to see Szoboszlai contribute more at Liverpool this season and the Hungarian star is given the former Reds defender what he wants.

Dominik Szoboszlai is living up to Jamie Carragher’s expectations
Back in October, Carragher shared a thought many Liverpool fans had about Szoboszlai as the Hungary international’s output left more to be desired.
“Dominik Szoboszlai has performed well off the ball and he brings energy to the team – doing the ‘dirty work’ as he puts it – but for all the possession he gets in good areas, he needs to be more productive in terms of his assists and goals. We are yet to see if that is part of his game,” the Sky Sports pundit said.
Over recent weeks, Szoboszlai has stepped up as Liverpool storm towards the Premier League title with the midfielder scoring big goals against Man City and Newcastle.
Carragher praised Szoboszlai’s performance at Man City and the pundit has likely changed his mind on the 24-year-old, along with many other Reds.
Szoboszlai is one of many players Slot has got the best out of this season and the Liverpool boss will need more in order to make the most out of the remainder of the 24/25 campaign.
