PSG star claims Liverpool have a player in ‘scary’ form ahead of Champions League clash

Liverpool’s Champions League knockout journey begins this evening as they face off against Paris Saint-Germain.

Having enjoyed an almost perfect European campaign so far under Arne Slot, the Reds have been tipped to beat PSG.

Liverpool, however, will have to be on their A-game to progress to the quarter-finals, with PSG’s impressive form, no doubt a worry for Reds supporters.

Slot’s main men will have to be fit and firing at the Parc des Princes, with the likes of Mohamed Salah likely to play a big part in the tie’s eventual outcome.

With that being said, PSG seem to recognise the danger Salah may bring, with midfielder Joao Neves recently singing the praises of the Egyptian.

PSG’s Joao Neves says Mohamed Salah has ‘scary numbers’ this season

Salah’s record-breaking form has also translated to the European stage this season, with seven goal contributions in seven Champions League appearances so far.

The 32-year-old will be hoping to add to that tally when Liverpool travel to Paris, currently sat on 30 goals for the season – stats that have been since described as ‘scary numbers’ by PSG man Neves.

Speaking TNT Sports Brazil, the Portuguese midfielder hailed the recent form of Salah, but insisted his PSG side are ready for the challenge ahead.

“These are scary numbers; it is good to have these numbers. As a colleague, I am happy for him,” he said.

“But as I have said many times, football is a team sport, not an individual sport. I think that if we put into practice what we have been doing, it will be easier to achieve victory, and that is what we are going to do tomorrow.”

Liverpool actually tried to sign Neves in 2024

PSG will no doubt be cautious of Liverpool’s threat, but they also have talent of their own which could hurt the Reds.

For example, Ousmane Dembele could create problems for Andy Robertson, meanwhile, Khvicha Kvaratskhelia has impressed against Liverpool in the past.

Neves is another player who the Reds will be familiar with, having previously been on the club’s radar before his Paris switch.

Whilst at Benfica, Neves was reportedly a priority for Slot last summer – PSG however swooped in and signed the midfielder from underneath FSG’s noses.

If the Portuguese midfielder shines against Slot’s side, Liverpool’s failure to sign Neves could come back to bite them in big fashion.
