Liverpool travel to France on Wednesday night to face an in-form Paris Saint-Germain team in the Champions League.

The two clubs are arguably the hottest teams in Europe at present and the tie is set to be a mouth-watering spectacle for football fans.

Ahead of the game in Paris, the contest has been marketed as Mohamed Salah against Ousmane Dembele.

Both wingers are in the form of their lives and are currently firing their teams to league titles in their respective countries.

The French talent has the potential to cause Liverpool many problems on Wednesday night and one Reds star could be handed the opportunity to save his career at Anfield.

Andy Robertson has the chance to prove Liverpool doubters wrong

Andy Robertson has been an incredible servant to Liverpool over the last eight years but the 2024/25 campaign has seen the left-back’s form dip off.

Liverpool fans have been frustrated with Robertson’s performances as the full-back has made many mistakes across the season so far.

This is a feeling also shared by pundits, with Jamie Carragher calling for Liverpool to sign another left-back ahead of next season.

Unlike during his time under Jurgen Klopp, Arne Slot has also rotated Robertson on several occasions this season and that has left doubt over the 30-year-old’s future as the defender is out of contract in 2026.

Liverpool’s clash with PSG provides the Scotland star with the perfect stage to prove his doubters wrong as the full-back will be coming up against an in-form Dembele.

It would be a huge statement from Robertson if he can keep the French winger quiet and it will prove to Reds fans that their left-back still has it in him.

Can Andy Robertson keep Ousmane Dembele quiet?

Dembele is one of the hottest players in Europe at present having been directly involved in more goals than any other player across Europe’s top five leagues and UEFA competitions in 2025 with 17.

Overall, the French winger has featured in 33 games for the Ligue 1 leaders this season, providing 26 goals and six assists.

Slot will be aware of the threat of Dembele and will have a plan to help protect Robertson from being left one-on-one with the 27-year-old.

The 30-year-old has the experience to deal with the PSG star and there is no doubt that the defender can call upon this to put in a memorable display in Paris.

The Scotland star will need to do his part on Wednesday night and with an expiring contract and doubt over his future, an exceptional performance could go a long way in Robertson earning himself a new deal.
