Liverpool’s route to a seventh Champions League title begins this week.

The Reds will take part in the knockout rounds of Europe’s biggest competition for the first time this season with the Merseyside club travelling to France to play Paris Saint-Germain on Wednesday.

The Ligue 1 leaders are in incredible form in 2025 and look set to provide the Reds with a very difficult test.

Luis Enrique has warned Liverpool about what to expect in Paris as the Parc des Princes atmosphere has helped his team remain undefeated at home this season.

Ahead of the contest, the pundits of TNT Sports have been discussing the Reds’ chances of lifting the Champions League this season and it has led to disagreements.

Ally McCoist can’t see Liverpool winning the Champions League

When it comes to the Champions League, Real Madrid are the kings of the competition having lifted the trophy 15 times.

Liverpool convincingly beat Real Madrid when facing the defending champions at Anfield back in November but despite this, Ally McCoist has still predicted the La Liga club to win the competition.

The TNT Sports pundit has pointed towards the experience Carlo Ancelotti’s men have in winning the competition and believes that will get the Spanish outfit over the line again this season.

“I think Real Madrid will win it. I think Liverpool have been excellent this season in everything they have done, apart from the obvious in the FA Cup. Their route to the final clearly at this stage is going to be difficult anyway,” McCoist stated.

“I just think Real Madrid are one of these teams that know how to do it. Of course, Liverpool can win it. one. I just think Real Madrid will win it.”

Peter Crouch would disagree with his fellow TNT Sports pundit and made a great case for Liverpool winning their seventh European crown in 2025.

Crouch disagreed with McCoist’s pick and has backed Liverpool to go all the way in the Champions League this season.

With the Merseyside club holding a comfortable 13-point lead in the Premier League over Arsenal, the former Reds star believes Arne Slot can use this advantage later in the season to focus on Europe.

This is not a privilege Real Madrid have as the Spanish giants are stuck in a three-horse race for the La Liga title this season alongside Barcelona and Atletico Madrid.

“I think it is incredibly difficult to do both and I think they can win the Premier League. They are the best team in in my opinion, but it doesn’t always happen that way, does it?” Crouch stated.

“I’m going to say agree because I just don’t think the teams around them in the Premier League are going to put them to the test enough that they can go for the Champions League.”

Crouch would also go on to point out that Liverpool have already beaten Real Madrid easily this season, stating: “Liverpool demolished Real Madrid already and I feel that they can demolish anyone in front of them on their day.”

Winning the Champions League will be a tough task for Liverpool but given their form and the results they have produced throughout the campaign, there is no reason why the Reds cannot achieve this goal.
