This summer looks set to be a busy one for Liverpool.

Since the arrival of Arne Slot, the Merseyside club have been very quiet in the transfer market with Federico Chiesa being the only Liverpool signing added to the Dutch coach’s squad.

James Pearce expects Liverpool’s forward line to change ahead of the 2025/26 campaign with players such as Newcastle’s Alexander Isak already linked to Anfield.

Saudi Arabia showed interest in Darwin Nunez in January, while it is being reported that Luis Diaz may not be offered a new Liverpool contract.

Should one or both leave, Slot will need them replaced, which has seen Liverpool linked to a star with an uncertain future in Serie A.

Liverpool hold Ademola Lookman talks

Ademola Lookman’s Atalanta future is in doubt after the 27-year-old was criticised by his manager Gian Piero Gasperini this week.

The Italian coach described the forward as “being among the best in the world” last year according to SOSFANTA, but things have quickly changed, leading to transfer speculation.

CaughtOffside reports that Liverpool have already held talks over a potential move for Lookman, with the Reds’ interest, along with Arsenal’s, being described as the most advanced at present.

Atalanta are believed to be seeking around £50m (€60m) for the Nigeria international, who has revived his career at the Italian club.

Despite this, that is a lot of money for a 27-year-old, which Liverpool will be wary of; therefore, it may be more logical for the Reds to show faith in one of their current stars.

Liverpool should gamble on Federico Chiesa over Ademola Lookman deal

Lookman has had a strange career having had failed spells in England with Everton, Fulham and Leicester City. However, the forward seems to have found a home in Italy where he has produced 47 goals and 23 assists across 106 games for Atalanta.

It is easy to see why Liverpool are interested in the player but the £50m would be better spent elsewhere, especially with Federico Chiesa at the club.

The Italian has struggled at Anfield this season with Karen Carney describing Chiesa’s Plymouth performance as “not good enough”.

With a full pre-season under his belt, things may be different for the winger on Merseyside as the former Juventus star has shown in the past how lethal he can be.
