Arne Slot is gearing up for his first-ever Merseyside derby as Reds boss.

Slot has warned his Liverpool players ahead of the match, recognising the need for a fast start at Goodison Park.

Despite David Moyes highlighting the ‘gap’ between the two sides, Everton will still no doubt present a tough task for Slot’s men.

With the Toffees fighting for survival and the Reds looking to extend their advantage at the top of the Premier League – the stakes couldn’t be higher, or could they?

Liverpool could make history in final Goodison Park visit

Currently, on 125 derby wins compared to Everton’s 84, the Reds currently hold the bragging rights over their rivals.

Liverpool’s derby record away from home, however, presents a different picture, with the two sides lock-horned at 41 wins a piece at Goodison Park.

This means that in what will be their last visit to Goodison, Liverpool have the chance to pip their neighbours in the all-time list.

David Moyes derby record will give Liverpool fans hope

Liverpool supporters will want nothing more than to wave goodbye to Goodison Park with a win – Moyes however will be doing his best to prevent that happening.

Having recently returned to Merseyside, Moyes knows better than most when it comes to derby day after 12 years as Toffees manager.

The 61-year-old has managed a total of 25 derby games, his record though won’t fill Everton fans with much hope.

Moyes will no doubt be hoping to overcome his poor derby record on Wednesday evening, if he doesn’t however Liverpool would have earned themselves some huge bragging rights on Merseyside.
