Everton snatched the three points away from Liverpool with a late equaliser at Goodison Park on Wednesday night.
Arne Slot’s men were leading the contest 2-1 heading into added time only for James Tarkowski to fire home a rocket to make it 2-2 with 98 minutes on the clock.
Liverpool will be disappointed with their performance despite the point increasing their gap to second-placed Arsenal by seven points.
Steve McManaman was not happy with Liverpool’s display in the first half as the Slot’s team got dragged into a fight, which prevented the Premier League leaders from showing their quality.
That would have been forgotten about had Liverpool come away with the three points, which they thought they had after Mohamed Salah’s goal.

Ally McCoist heaps praise on Curtis Jones for role in Mohamed Salah’s goal
With 73 minutes on the clock, Liverpool thought they had taken a significant step towards beating Everton when Salah’s right-foot strike hit the back of the Toffees’ net.
The Egyptian superstar did exceptionally well to control the ball and direct it towards the Everton goal, however, Ally McCoist was just as impressed with the work of Curtis Jones.
Commentating on the match for TNT Sports, McCoist stated: ‘Curtis Jones is really sharp on the goal. Salah is incredible really, either foot, but you talk about Curtis Jones or any player being on their toes, look at that, O’Brien’s on his heels, Curtis Jones isn’t, bang!
‘That’s what happens. Watch where he comes from, excellent. Excellent. And the finish with the right foot,’ the Scottish pundit would add.
Despite this, Jones would ruin his display from the bench against Everton as an incident after the full-time whistle would see the midfielder pick up a silly red card.
Curtis Jones set to miss Liverpool’s clash with Wolves
After the full-time whistle, Jones received a second yellow card alongside Abdoulaye Doucoure after the Liverpool star confronted the Everton midfielder for celebrating in front of fans of the Reds.
It was a moment Slot needed Jones to keep a cool head but the English talent will now miss Liverpool’s next match with Wolves on Sunday as a result of the red card.
This will be a big blow for the Reds boss as the midfielder’s role in Salah’s goal was the second Premier League match in a row Jones has had an impact for Liverpool off of the bench.
Don Hutchison praised Jones for his impact against Bournemouth and although some fans might love the 24-year-old’s actions at the end of the Merseyside Derby, it was a moment of immaturity that could have an impact on Liverpool’s overall season should they drop points against Wolves.
