Liverpool are back in action on Thursday night as the Reds take on Tottenham in the Carabao Cup.
The Merseyside club need to overturn a 1-0 deficit from the first leg of their semi-final clash as Arne Slot is hopeful of taking Liverpool to Wembley.
The contest is the first the Reds will compete in since the transfer window shut this week and it ended with the Premier League leaders deciding not to bring any new names to Anfield.
There were outgoings on Merseyside, with Jayden Danns joining Sunderland on loan and Kaide Gordon temporarily moving to Portsmouth.
Slot has admitted that he is happy with his Liverpool squad on multiple occasions as the Dutch coach’s team continues to fight on all four fronts. Yet, some fans still wanted to see new faces arrive.
Club legend Jan Molby has shared his thoughts on the transfer activity at Liverpool and has stated that he has noticed something at Anfield.
Jan Molby states that Liverpool fans are freaking out over transfers
Throughout the 2024/25 season, Liverpool have spent the least on transfers out of all the Premier League clubs.
This has worked out over time as it has allowed Slot to fully evaluate his current squad while providing funds for Liverpool to spend during the summer transfer window ahead of the 2025/26 campaign.
Despite these positives, some fans are not happy, and Jan Molby has admitted that they freak out whenever the topic of transfers is brought up.
“I don’t have a problem with it during the week, but when I attend matches, you get a million people going in, and some people are starting to freak out,” the former Liverpool star told Anfield Index.
When asked if he was disappointed that Liverpool didn’t bring in another body for the remainder of the season, Molby said: “I am disappointed, I’ll be honest, that we didn’t do something. I think it really would have helped a lot.”
Despite this, the former Red also pointed out positives, which there are plenty around Anfield at present as the Merseyside outfit sit on top of the Premier League while remaining in every other competition.
Arne Slot’s Liverpool squad is in a very healthy state
Many fans’ fears stem from how fast Liverpool dropped off towards the end of last season while being in a similar situation to the one they are in now.
There were many reasons for that, as Jurgen Klopp’s squad was hit with injuries and the German’s style of play is known to cause fatigue with his team playing so many games.
Trent Alexander-Arnold is Liverpool’s only major absence right now and Molby believes that is a huge factor for his former team going forward.
“It’s the first time since 2007 we’ve had a fully fit squad in February,” Molby stated, underscoring Slot’s emphasis on player availability. The 61-year-old continued by saying: “Player availability under Arne Slot was over 90% at Feyenoord. I believe that played a massive part in Liverpool wanting to speak to this guy.”
Only time will tell how Liverpool’s plays out and if the Reds fail, very little of that will have to do with transfers.
