Liverpool are currently on course to win their 20th English league title.

The Reds are leading the way in the Premier League, six points ahead of Arsenal after 23 matches, while also remaining in every other competition they compete in.

Arne Slot has achieved this having only added Federico Chiesa to his Liverpool squad during the summer.

The Dutch coach has been very successful in coaching the strong team Jurgen Klopp left behind, however, fans of the Merseyside outfit have some concerns.

Liverpool fell away at the end of the 2023/24 campaign as they pushed for a quadruple. ESPN pundit Steve Nicol doesn’t think Liverpool can win the quadruple this season either, however, the former Liverpool star agrees with one major decision Slot has made in recent weeks.

Steve Nicol agrees with major Arne Slot decision at Liverpool

With the chance to win several trophies being a strong possibility for Liverpool this season, given their strength and the lack of strength within their competition, many supporters felt that the Reds should have added a new star to their squad during the January transfer window.

Slot admitted that he was “very happy” with his Liverpool squad last month and that hinted at the fact that the Merseyside club weren’t going to spend during the latest transfer window.

Steve Nicol was asked on ESPN FC’s Extra Time if he wished his former club had signed a player ahead of a crucial part of the campaign, leading to the pundit agreeing with Slot.

“I think what they have got it is good enough to see it through [the season], so I didn’t think they would make a new signing,” Nicol stated. “So no, what they have got right now should take them through.”

There are differences between the teams of Slot and Klopp, which will have a significant impact on how Liverpool’s season may end.

There are other ways the Dutch coach can stop burnout other than news signings, which the former Feyenoord boss will certainly use in the near future.

Arne Slot will not repeat Liverpool’s 2023/24 campaign

The 2023/24 campaign was shaping up to be a very memorable one for Liverpool heading into April last year as the Reds were on course to win all four trophies available to them, with Jurgen Klopp even admitting his quadruple hopes.

Having won the Carabao Cup against Chelsea, Liverpool would fail to win any other title as the Reds burned out as the season progressed.

That is a possibility for Slot this season, however, his squad have already experienced this and will not want to again.

In addition to this, the Dutch coach’s style of football is less intense and that should mean the Premier League leaders enter the final stage of the campaign with fresher legs.

Slot will not see a repeat of last season and although Liverpool may not win every trophy, silverware will return to Anfield at the end of the campaign.
