Liverpool came through a difficult Premier League game on Saturday as they beat Bournemouth 2-0.
The Reds knew they’d be up against it at times on the south coast, with the Cherries in the midst of a superb run of form.
But despite riding their luck at times, a Mohamed Salah double won the game for Liverpool, who will end the day nine points clear in the Premier League.
There were plenty of positives for the Reds, with Alisson Becker putting in a top-drawer display to keep Bournemouth at bay.
However, there was also one glaring negative about Liverpool’s 2-0 victory.
Trent Alexander-Arnold was awful against Bournemouth. And after delivering a hall of shame performance, the 26-year-old went down injured in the second-half.

Trent Alexander-Arnold picks up injury
Alexander-Arnold was off it right from the first second of the game against Bournemouth.
Having been fed the ball by Alexis Mac Allister from the Liverpool kick-off, the right-back wandered into trouble and lost it. Bournemouth countered.
From there, Trent’s day only got worse as he struggled to deal with the threat posed by Antoine Semenyo.
The Liverpool academy graduate went down with an issue with around 20 minutes left, being replaced by Conor Bradley. And speaking in his post-match press conference, Arne Slot confirmed that Alexander-Arnold had asked to come off.
“The situation was he said to me ‘you have to take me off,'” said the Liverpool head coach. “He sat on the floor and we took him off.
“He felt something, I cannot tell you exactly what it is and how bad it is because we are one hour after the game. But it’s never a good sign if a player is asking for a substitution. I would be surprised if he plays on Thursday but let’s hope he’s back with us as soon as possible.”
Alexander-Arnold has an off-day
Although Alexander-Arnold was miles off the pace against the Cherries, it is still a worry to lose him.
Liverpool’s fixture list is still hectic over the coming weeks and Slot will not want to be without his starting right-back.
However, based on this evidence, some time out of the team might do Trent some good.
The Scouser still hasn’t signed his new contract and as the summer draws closer, that is likely to affect him more and more.
If Saturday’s performance is anything to go by, he badly needs to up his game.
