Liverpool were 4-1 victors on the weekend against Ipswich Town, with Trent Alexander-Arnold one of the stars of the show.

Although Alexis Mac Allister and Cody Gakpo received the plaudits for Liverpool, the England international was at his creative best at Anfield on Saturday, with Alexander-Arnold assisting the fourth and final goal for the Reds against Ipswich.

With Michael Owen in awe of Alexander-Arnold’s pass to Gakpo for the goal, the 26-year-old once again showed the world why he is considered one of the best right-backs in the world and a player Liverpool are going to miss greatly when the defender makes his expected move to Real Madrid this summer.

Indeed, Alexander-Arnold was a force on Saturday, and the defender’s performance seemingly caught the eye of Stephen Warnock, who was blown away by what he saw from the Liverpool academy graduate at Anfield.

Trent Alexander-Arnold compared to Steven Gerrard and other Premier League legends

Speaking to Sky Sports News, the pundit lauded Alexander-Arnold as ‘the best passer of the ball in the world’ right now, with Warnock also comparing the defender’s passing ability to Steven Gerrard’s, Kevin De Bruyne’s and Paul Scholes’.

With Manchester United legend Denis Irwin comparing Alexander-Arnold to David Beckham, the Liverpool right-back’s passing has somehow reached new heights this season, and Warnock was in awe by what he saw from the defender against Ipswich.

Warnock said: “He’s got great ability going forward [Bradley] and he’s a different type of threat, but Trent’s ability to pass a ball is outrageous, it’s De Bruyne, Beckham, Gerrard and Scholes all rolled into one. You’re talking about arguably the best passer of the ball in the world, how often can you say that about a right-back?

“What he brings to that right-back position is phenomenal, some of his passing on the weekend, I was commentating on the weekend and I was just like: ‘Oh my God, how’s he done that?’ It’s the confidence to do it as well, and it’s effortless. The ball for Gakpo’s goal is just phenomenal, it’s on the money.”

Alexander-Arnold named ‘best player in the Premier League’ this weekend

To say pundits were impressed with Alexander-Arnold would be something of an understatement, with the England international enjoying one of his best games this season as the fullback toyed with the Ipswich defence down the right.

And the right-back’s performance was so good that Troy Deeney named Alexander-Arnold as ‘the best player in the Premier League’ this weekend, with the former Watford captain starstruck by what he saw from the Liverpool maestro.

If Liverpool are to win the Premier League this season, Alexander-Arnold’s performances will be a key reason to Arne Slot’s side going the distance for the title, with the defender currently playing his best football yet for the Reds.
