The January transfer window has taken a back seat for Liverpool this season, with the focus being on fixtures and ongoing contract situations.

The Reds sit top of the Premier League and UEFA Champions League standings with Arne Slot proving to be the dream successor for Jurgen Klopp at Anfield, though Liverpool are yet to reach contract solutions for the likes of Mohamed Salah and Virgil van Dijk.

With Trent Alexander-Arnold likely to join Real Madrid at the end of this season, big squad changes are coming for Liverpool in 2025, even with the January transfer window set to be another quiet one for the Reds this year.

Yet Liverpool could now be about to go back on their word on what they were originally going to do with one player before the January transfer window closes next week.

Stefan Bajcetic close to joining Las Palmas on loan

According to Atlantico Hoy, Stefan Bajcetic is close to joining La Liga side Las Palmas on loan, despite reports that Liverpool were going to keep the midfielder at RB Salzburg for the remainder of the season.

The Spanish youth international has struggled with the Austrian giants this campaign with Bajcetic even deleting all mentions of Salzburg from his social media, with the 20-year-old playing just under 900 minutes of football with the Champions League side.

As a result, a new loan move makes the most sense for Bajcetic this January, with Las Palmas now moving fast to sign the midfielder for the remainder of the season in what could be a fantastic move for the Liverpool youngster.

Indeed, Las Palmas came into the picture for Bajcetic on Sunday, and in just under 24 hours, the Gran Canaria-based side now seem close to securing the maestro’s signature on loan for the season, with Liverpool seemingly moving fast to get the deal through the door.

Who else could leave Liverpool before the window closes?

With Jurgen Klopp lauding Bajcetic as ‘exceptional, the midfielder might be the highest profile leaving Liverpool on loan this January, yet the former Celta Vigo academy star is far from the only player who depart Anfield in the coming days before the window closes.

Jayden Danns and James McConnell are both wanted by Championship clubs on loan with the duo likely to depart before the window shuts next week having both featured and impressed for Slot’s first-team this season.

With Kaide Gordon also likely to leave Liverpool on loan having been recalled from Norwich City, there could be plenty of movement in the final days of the January transfer market, even if no major sales or incoming are expected to be made.
