The last 12 months have been a rollercoaster in the career of Barcelona star Dani Olmo.

The Spanish international played a major role in his nation winning Euro 2024 in Germany last summer and his performance at the tournament earned him a big-money move to Barcelona from RB Leipzig.

Liverpool reportedly showed strong interest in Olmo as it became evident that he would leave Germany, but would ultimately miss out on the Euros winner.

Barcelona was a dream move for the midfielder and the 26-year-old has since gone on to feature in 17 matches for the La Liga giants, producing six goals and three assists.

This dream was soured of late as the Catalan club were unable to register the Spaniard to due their financial issues, leading to Liverpool once again being linked to Olmo.

Having overcome this, Olmo appeared on the popular YouTube channel of Adri Contreras, where the Barca star answered many questions and a surprising answer related to a Liverpool star would surface during the 20-minute video.

Dani Olmo would love to play alongside Liverpool star Dominik Szoboszlai

Olmo and Dominik Szoboszlai spent two years playing alongside each other at RB Leipzig between 2021 and 2023, and it seems that the Hungarian star left a lasting impression on the Barcelona star.

The midfielder is a super-talented player with the 24-year-old often leaving his teammates impressed with his skills as Liverpool star Harvey Elliott recently labelled Szoboszlai world-class.

The Hungary international has struggled with consistency throughout his time at Liverpool and fans would ideally like the former Leipzig star to chip in with more goal contributions.

Despite this, Olmo would love to play with his former teammate again and when speaking on the YouTube channel of Adri Contreras, the Barcelona star stated that he would love Szoboszlai to play for the Spanish national team.

‘A player from another country that I would like to see play for the Spanish national team? Szoboszlai,’ the 26-year-old stated.

This is a huge compliment from Olmo given some of the players Spain have available for selection and it may have Liverpool fans wondering what sort of midfield pair the duo would make at Anfield.

Dominik Szoboszlai and Dani Olmo could thrive at Liverpool

Now that Olmo’s situation at Barcelona has been resolved, a potential move to Liverpool is unlikely to happen in the near future.

Jamie Carragher has demanded more goal contributions from Szoboszlai this season as there is certainly another level the 24-year-old can move up to, but the arrival of Olmo would take some of this pressure off of the Hungarian talent.

The Spaniard’s output is higher than the Liverpool star but together, the duo would make an incredible creative force, especially in situations when the Reds need a goal such as the Nottingham Forest clash on Tuesday.

Olmo would be a very useful tool for Arne Slot to have in his team but given the unlikeliness of this, the Dutch coach will continue to try and extract the best out of Szoboszlai during his time at Liverpool.
