The January transfer window has been open for nearly two weeks, and Liverpool could be ready to make a move for AFC Bournemouth star Antoine Semenyo.

The Ghana international has been one of the revelations of the season in the Premier League, with playing a key role in Bournemouth’s impressive run of form with the 25-year-old London-born attacker scoring six goals and bagging three assists in all competitions.

And Semenyo’s form has caught Liverpool’s attention, with the Reds considering a move for the former Bristol City star as Arne Slot looks to add to his attacking options despite the incredible amounts of quality the Anfield side already have.

Now, Semenyo has fuelled rumours of a move to Liverpool after recent comments of two players for the Merseyside giants.

Semenyo names Ryan Gravenberch and Dominik Szoboszlai as his hardest opponents

Speaking on BallTalk, the Bournemouth star named Ryan Gravenberch and Dominik Szoboszlai as his hardest Premier League opponents to date, with Semenyo lauding the Liverpool midfielders having faced them earlier this season at Anfield.

With Semenyo now worth close to £40m, the winger’s comments on Gravenberch and Szoboszlai could help the forward secure a move to Liverpool this January, with interest from the Reds starting to increase the longer the month goes on.

Semenyo said when asked who is the hardest player he’s faced in the Premier League so far: “I think Szoboszlai for Liverpool, he’s top, so good. He’s very, very good, his work-rate let alone his technical quality, he’s an all-round midfielder.

“Either him or Gravenberch, they are serious players. Those two players in the midfield can do anything. They can defend, they can get back when they need to, they’re magic on the ball. When we played them at Anfield, we didn’t actually have a bad game, but they ran the show.”

Do Liverpool need to sign another attacker this January?

The Reds’ attacking options are some of the best in Europe, even with Nedum Onuoha saying Darwin Nunez is bad for Liverpool in their bid to win the Premier League this season given the Uruguay international’s lack of goalscoring form.

And with Semenyo now a target for Liverpool, adding another forward in January feels like a waste of funds for the Anfield side, even with Federico Chiesa now linked with Napoli as a potential replacement for Khvicha Kvaratskhelia.

Indeed, Liverpool are in no rush to sign another attacker with problems lying elsewhere in the squad, and as good as Semenyo has been this season, the Ghana international knows he will have to do more if he’s to win a move to the Premier League leaders this year.
