When it comes to the transfer market, Liverpool have got their signings right more often than not in recent years.

Alexis Mac Allister, Luis Diaz, Cody Gakpo and Ryan Gravenberch are names from recent transfer windows that have firmly established themselves in the current starting 11 of Arne Slot.

Throughout Fenway Sports Group’s ownership of Liverpool, there are not many notable failed signings; and during the Jurgen Klopp era at Anfield, those mishaps were even less.

Andy Carroll is a name that will come to the forefront of every Reds fan’s mind, while Naby Keita and Christian Benteke are others that high hopes were placed on but fell short of what was expected from them.

At present, one player sticks out like a sore thumb and according to Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher, the Reds are “not happy” with the star’s current run of form.

Jamie Carragher admits Liverpool are ‘not happy’ with Darwin Nunez

The 2022 summer transfer window saw Darwin Nunez arrive at Liverpool as part of a £85m deal with Benfica as Klopp became impressed with the striker having scored twice against his team during a Champions League quarter-final tie.

The Uruguayan star has many impressive attributes, however, his finishing ability, decision-making and eagerness to run offside have all frustrated Liverpool fans since his arrival.

Nunez has not provided the numbers that justify his huge price tag and according to Carragher, the Merseyside club are “not happy” with his current form at Anfield.

Speaking on the latest episode of Stick to Football, Carragher claimed that Liverpool are one of the teams not happy with their forward options whilst speaking about the struggles of several strikers in the Premier League.

“If you go through the Premier League, Liverpool are not happy with their striker, probably Nunez. I know Jota, we love Jota, but he is not fit and not the first choice,” the Sky Sports pundit stated.

Nunez has been linked with a move to Saudi Arabia in recent weeks and ahead of the summer transfer window, there is a strong chance that the Reds move on from the Uruguay star.

Jayden Danns could be ready to replace Darwin Nunez at Liverpool

Should Nunez leave Liverpool at the end of the season, Jayden Danns would be the perfect replacement for the 25-year-old as Slot’s forward line is already stacked with top talent, leaving funds available to address other key areas.

The young striker has already proven he can score goals and perform at the highest level, netting in the Reds’ FA Cup won over Accrington Stanley last weekend.

Danns could leave Liverpool on loan for the remainder of the season, which will aid him for the 2025/26 campaign.

A rotation role, similar to Nunez’s at present, is the next step for the 19-year-old and any money raised from the sale of the Uruguayan can be put towards the Slot’s backline, where a centre-back and a left-back are required ahead of the next season.
