Liverpool have a proud tradition of promoting academy players to the first-team and establishing these players into superstars.
From Steven Gerrard to Trent Alexander-Arnold to now Conor Bradley. Liverpool’s academy has been excellent across the decades in producing some of the finest players in the Premier League and way beyond.
And Saturday saw Rio Ngumoha make Liverpool history as the winger became the youngest player ever to start a game for the Anfield giants, with the 16-year-old academy star impressing in the attack for the Reds against Accrington Stanley.
And Arne Slot has now named Ngumoha amongst two other youngsters who the Liverpool manager has been impressed with in first-team training.

Slot praises Liverpool youngsters Jayden Danns, Rio Ngumoha and Trey Nyoni
Speaking to the press, the Liverpool boss shared how Jayden Danns, Ngumoha and Trey Nyoni have shined in first-team training this season, with the trio all featuring and starring for the Reds against Accrington Stanley on the weekend.
Danns was lauded by Robbie Fowler after scoring his first Liverpool goal of the season as Slot once again praised Nyoni for his work in training, with the Dutch manager clearly impressed with what he’s seen from the trio in recent weeks.
Slot said when asked about promoting academy players: “It’s very important for every club, but especially this club. I said after the last League Cup game that this club has always brought talent through the ranks, so it’s nice to see a few youngsters who are having an impact already in our training sessions.
“But like we saw on Saturday in the games with Jayden [Danns] scoring, with Rio [Ngumoha] starting and with Trey [Nyoni] assisting for Federico for the fourth goal. It’s always nice to have this good energy in the building if they train with us and play with us.”

What other Liverpool youngsters should Slot take a look at?
Liverpool have always had exciting youngsters to call upon no matter the year or the state of the first-team squad, with Slot experiencing this first-hand with the Reds on course for a historic quadruple.
Yet beyond Danns, Ngumoha and Nyoni, there are some players Slot could consider going into the future, with Owen Beck one Liverpool talent who could feature next season given the Anfield side’s current left-back problems.
Indeed, Liverpool’s academy will always be a source of world-class talent for the Reds’ first-team, and Slot will do his best to bring through and nurture as much as he can heading into this exciting new era with the Merseyside giants.
